Viscount Aleister Chamber, formally titled Viscount of Druitt, possesses distinctive platinum-blond hair resembling spun gold and striking lavender eyes. His meticulously presented appearance consistently features elegant attire: a white suit, ascot tie, pocket square, brooch, and white gloves.
Aleister exhibits a highly theatrical, vain, and self-aggrandizing personality, frequently comparing himself to historical figures like Nero or Caesar and declaring himself the "incarnation of beauty." He displays a strong appreciation for fine arts, gourmet food, and luxury, often serving as a judge at social events, dramatically comparing culinary dishes to beautiful women. Concurrently, he engages in morally corrupt activities, including human trafficking, illegal auctions where victims are sold as pets or for ritual sacrifices, and involvement with occult societies like the Aurora Society, which conducted unlawful human experimentation. Despite repeated arrests, he avoids legal consequences through bribery and influence.
His background includes graduating from Weston College, the same institution his nephew Edgar Redmond later attended, and holding an unused medical license. This medical knowledge intersects with his fascination with black magic and the occult within his criminal endeavors.
Aleister first appears during the Jack the Ripper investigation, hosting a party where he becomes infatuated with Ciel Phantomhive, disguised as a girl. He lures Ciel to a hidden room, incapacitates him with gas, and attempts to auction him, leading to his arrest. He resurfaces shortly afterward as a judge at a curry fair, having bribed his way out of imprisonment.
During the Luxury Liner arc, Aleister boards the Campania for an Aurora Society gathering. When a Bizarre Doll outbreak occurs, he steals a device intended to subdue the reanimated corpses and attempts to leverage it to establish a new "Aurora Empire," demanding loyalty from Ciel, Sebastian, and the Grim Reapers. After the device fails, he is attacked by Grell Sutcliff but is saved by Undertaker, who cites Aleister's entertainment value. Aleister survives the ship's sinking, with his "miraculous survival" widely reported.
In the Public School arc, he attends Weston College's cricket tournament festivities, scolding his nephew Edgar for rudeness and reminiscing about his alma mater. He later appears flirting at the tournament's after-party.
Aleister maintains complex relationships. He repeatedly unnerves Ciel Phantomhive with unwanted advances and comparisons to "robins," stemming from their initial encounter. Undertaker intervenes to save his life on the Campania, citing amusement, though theories suggest potential ancestral links to individuals memorialized in Undertaker's mourning lockets or utility in Undertaker's plans. As Edgar Redmond's uncle, he displays familial responsibility by reprimanding Edgar's behavior.
Aleister is characterized by repeatedly surviving dire odds, including encounters with demons, Grim Reapers, and catastrophic events. His consistent return to society after each downfall, facilitated by wealth or connections, reinforces his role as a persistent fixture.
