Description
Spike is a member of the original Seven Knights, warriors chosen by the goddess Serrass to protect the world from destruction. He wields control over ice and carries a giant axe, known for his quiet and cold demeanor. Spike is half-human and half-ice elf, the son of Ice Queen Lania and the human Gelidus. Due to the life-threatening cold emanating from his mother’s ice spirit nature, he was abandoned as a child and raised by ice elves in a secluded castle. Growing up isolated and without exposure to human emotions, he developed an outwardly emotionless personality.
During his upbringing, Spike gained extensive knowledge from the ice elves but remained secluded until travelers revealed the truth of his parentage. This discovery ignited a deep hatred for his mother and awakened a fragment of destruction within him. Driven by vengeance, he trained to overthrow Lania and claim the Frozen Land throne. He challenged and killed her in combat, only to later learn that her death was a calculated sacrifice to ensure his rise as king. This revelation left him guilt-ridden and confused as he began experiencing emotions for the first time.
Spike retreated into isolation, struggling with his feelings, but was aided by his only trusted friend, Jave, another member of the Seven Knights. Their bond is one of brotherhood, marked by mutual respect and loyalty. Through this support, Spike regained clarity, released his grudge against Lania, and accepted her sacrifice. He learned to cherish her memory and embraced his role as the true ruler of the Frozen Land, growing into a more gentle and emotionally balanced individual.
Spike maintains a generally neutral or distant stance toward the other Knights, though he holds a specific dislike for Teo. His personal interests include reading, fishing, and exercise. In the context of the anime, Spike exists as one of the original legendary heroes whose power is channeled by successors through a special card. He is revered by the new generation of Seven Knights at Granseed Academy, who inherit the abilities and responsibilities of the original warriors to combat the resurgent forces of destruction.
