TV-Series
Description
Princess Gruier Serenity is seventh in line to the throne of the Serenity Planet Commonwealth. Born approximately thirteen years before the series events via artificial womb aboard the Golden Ghost Ship, which also housed the bio-plant generating royal offspring, she later sought to destroy that facility to resolve political conflicts within her family.
Despite her royal status, Gruier maintains a friendly and sociable demeanor, actively preventing her position from hindering personal interactions. Her sheltered palace upbringing initially leads to naivety regarding everyday matters and a tendency to withhold critical information, such as her true motives for seeking the Golden Ghost Ship. She expresses remorse for such actions and gradually becomes more transparent as she adapts to her responsibilities. Her character develops significantly through key events, notably reconciling with her younger sister Grunhilde after resolving their ideological conflict over Serenity's future governance, which had strained their relationship.
Gruier displays resourcefulness and adaptability, particularly through repeated acts of stowing away aboard vessels like the Bentenmaru. This propensity earns her the moniker "Stowaway Princess" (密航王女, Mikkō Ōjo), a title later used for her theme song. Her initial boarding of the Bentenmaru is achieved using a special ID ring given to her years earlier by its former captain, Gonzaemon Kato, granting full system access. She deeply trusted Gonzaemon and was distressed by news of his death.
Academically, she enrolls at Hakuoh Academy under a student guise, joining the space yacht club to preserve her cover during absences for missions. There, she forms friendships, particularly with Marika Kato, whom she admires for operating without royal constraints. Gruier respects Marika's judgment and supports her during crises, assisting in operating the Bentenmaru. She also develops a budding friendship with Chiaki Kurihara, bonding over their mutual connection to Marika.
Her skills include theoretical dinghy piloting knowledge from simulator training, operational familiarity with systems on the Odette II and the Bentenmaru, and proficiency in diplomatic arts—a core aspect of Serenity royal education enabling her to detect falsehoods unless the speaker believes their own lies. She is also a capable painter but lacks swimming ability.
Gruier has blue eyes, blonde hair, and stood 140 centimeters tall weighing 34 kilograms during her initial stowaway. Her hairstyle varies between twin buns with braided tails casually and loose locks formally. At Hakuoh Academy, she wears the middle school uniform. For royal ceremonies, she dons elaborate white gowns with tiaras and roses. A visual resemblance exists between her casual appearance and Princess Serenity (Usagi Tsukino) from Sailor Moon, differentiated by Gruier's braided twin-tails.
