Description
Akiza Izinski, known as Aki Izayoi in Japanese-language media, originates from the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's series and appears in the film Yu-Gi-Oh! 3D: Bonds Beyond Time. She grew up in New Domino City as a senator's daughter. Her potent psychic abilities, enabling her to manifest Duel Monsters cards and effects into reality, first surfaced during a childhood duel interrupted by her father. This caused emotional distress and an accidental injury, resulting in parental rejection. This event triggered isolation and bullying by peers who feared her as a "monster," followed by further unintentional harm to opponents during duels at Duel Academy, cementing her feared reputation.

After observing her family seeming happier without her, she destroyed her home using her powers and fled. Akiza then became active in underground dueling circuits, adopting the persona "Black Rose Witch" (or "Black Rose" in English adaptations) to compartmentalize her actions and cope with guilt. Her powers drew Sayer's (Divine in some sources) attention, leader of the Arcadia Movement. He offered sanctuary and a special hairpin to help control her abilities while manipulating her for his agenda. This association intensified her anger and instability, though she initially viewed the group as a surrogate family.

Her development began in the Fortune Cup arc upon encountering Signer Yusei Fudo. Conflicts between Yusei's perspective and Sayer's manipulations caused her to question her path, weakening her focus. After Sayer's apparent death and her parents' reconciliation attempts—facilitated by Yusei—she achieved emotional stability. She accepted her Mark of the Dragon (one of the Crimson Dragon's claws) and reconciled with her family. This transformation yielded a warmer, more selfless personality dedicated to helping friends, forming sibling-like bonds with Leo and Luna. Romantic feelings for Yusei influenced her decision to become a Turbo Duelist to understand his world.

In *Bonds Beyond Time*, set after Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's episode 82 but before the Crash Town arc, Akiza appears briefly in the opening sequences. She arrives at the garage with Leo and Luna to present historical research about Maximillion Pegasus and Yugi Muto to Yusei, Jack, and Crow. She witnesses the temporal disruption collapsing New Domino City and observes the Crimson Dragon empowering Yusei's Duel Runner for time travel. She remains in the present timeline during the film's primary conflict against Paradox and does not accompany Yusei through time.

Her psychic capacities are exceptionally potent compared to other psychic duelists, capable of manifesting monsters outside duels and affecting physical environments. Early lack of control necessitated the hairpin stabilizer; its dislodging unleashed amplified destructive potential. Post-redemption, she gained precise command, selectively manifesting monsters for non-combat purposes like rescue operations and even demonstrating healing properties through Black Rose Dragon during a rubble collapse. Though her powers temporarily vanished after a Duel Runner crash, they later returned instinctively. Her deck centers on Plant-type monsters and her Signer Dragon, Black Rose Dragon.
