Suì-Fēng, born Shāolíng Fēng, hails from the Fēng noble house affiliated with the Shihōin family. As the youngest of six siblings, she joined the Onmitsukidō's Executive Militia, upholding family tradition. Upon entry, she discarded her birth name for the codename "Suì-Fēng," previously held by her great-grandmother. The deaths of her five older siblings on missions left her the sole heir. Her intense dedication earned her promotion to personal guard of Yoruichi Shihōin, then commander of the Onmitsukidō and captain of the 2nd Division. Despite clashing with Yoruichi's relaxed style, Suì-Fēng developed profound loyalty and admiration, forging a mentor-protégée bond over seven years of training. This bond fractured over 110 years ago when Yoruichi abandoned her posts to aid Kisuke Urahara's exile, an act Suì-Fēng perceived as betrayal. She subsequently trained to surpass Yoruichi, eventually assuming her former roles as captain of the 2nd Division and commander-in-chief of the Onmitsukidō. Suì-Fēng embodies staunch loyalty, discipline, and rigidity. She prioritizes duty and order, often disregarding subordinates like her lieutenant Marechiyo Ōmaeda to foster their self-reliance. She displays resolute determination in combat, exemplified by ordering Ōmaeda to amputate her poisoned arm against Espada Baraggan Louisenbairn. A deep fixation on Yoruichi persists, manifesting in collecting black cat memorabilia (referencing Yoruichi's feline form), installing floor heating in the 2nd Division barracks, and designing rejected gadgets like a cat-bee hybrid phone for exclusive communication. She harbors lasting animosity toward Kisuke Urahara, blaming him for Yoruichi's departure, extending to requesting his confinement in exchange for using her Bankai twice in one day. Despite her severity, she shows rare vulnerability concerning Yoruichi, offering pocket money to Yoruichi's brother Yūshirō Shihōin while blushing. Physically, Suì-Fēng possesses a petite frame, gray eyes, and short black hair initially featuring two braids bound in white cloth, each tipped with a golden ring. She later removed the braids before the Wandenreich invasion. Her attire includes the standard sleeveless captain's haori over the Onmitsukidō commander uniform—sleeveless and backless with black armbands. She wears traditional Chinese shoes with white socks instead of Shinigami sandals. Post-Aizen's defeat, her hairstyle reverted to a softer, shoulder-length cut reminiscent of her youth. As Onmitsukidō commander and 2nd Division captain, Suì-Fēng specializes in stealth, assassination, and speed-based combat. Her mastery of Shunpo enables her to create 15 speed clones, ranking her among Soul Society's fastest, surpassed only by Yoruichi and Tenjirō Kirinji. She excels in Hakuda, employing techniques like Kazaguruma (spinning kick) and Tsurigaki (counter-pivoting). Her signature ability, Shunkō, fuses Hakuda, Shunpo, and Kidō into pressurized energy around her arms and back. Initially incomplete, she later perfected it into Mukyū Shunkō, creating a perpetual energy vortex. Her zanpakutō Suzumebachi (Hornet) in Shikai takes the form of a stinger on her right middle finger. It implants a Hōmonka (Honeycomb Crest) upon striking; a second sting to the same crest instantly kills the target. Her Bankai, Jakuho Raikoben (Hornet Thunder Whip), is a missile launcher requiring the Ginjōtan sash to anchor her against recoil. She rarely employs it due to its destructive impracticality in stealth missions. She also demonstrates strategic acumen, such as disabling opponents unseen or coordinating distractions with Ōmaeda. In the Bount arc, Suì-Fēng investigated human disappearances with Yoruichi. Poisoned by Bount Mabashi, she self-inflicted a Hōmonka to track him and defeated him using Suzumebachi after her militia was compromised. During the Shūsuke Amagai arc, she confronted Ichigo Kurosaki at the Kasumiōji wedding but later collaborated with Yoruichi to breach a royal-blood barrier. In the Zanpakutō Unknown Tales arc, her zanpakutō spirit Suzumebachi rebelled, criticizing her obsession with Yoruichi and attire. Suì-Fēng defeated it using Shunkō, exhausting herself. Across these events, she maintained tactical rigor while occasionally relying on Yoruichi's aid. Post-Aizen, she refined her Shunkō technique and altered her appearance, reflecting ongoing development.
