Description
Yūno Hōzuki, granddaughter of the Hōzuki patriarch and designated successor to the clan's martial arts legacy, is a 17-year-old second-year student at Seiryō High School. Peers recognize her beauty, intelligence, and poise, describing her as the ideal "Yamato Nadeshiko." Despite this perception, her focus rests primarily on Shinkurō Kurenai, with minimal interest in others outside their circle.

Her background includes rigorous training in the Hōzuki-style martial arts, a family tradition descended from assassins, though the clan no longer engages in such activities. Her grandfather expects both Yūno and her younger sister, Chizuru, to preserve their combat techniques. Following the loss of his family, Shinkurō lived with the Hōzuki household during his childhood. There, Yūno became his sparring partner and mentor, instilling in him principles like respecting women and the belief that marrying an older woman is ideal. She resents his decision to leave the Hōzuki residence to live independently, fearing he might become a delinquent, and actively seeks his return.

Yūno possesses significant combat abilities, classified as a First-Class Senki (Fighting Demon) within the Hōzuki system. As a main lineage member, she congenitally develops horns on both arms in this transformed state, granting immense strength. Her combat prowess surpasses Shinkurō's, leading her to occasionally challenge him to prove her superiority. In the "Princess of Yugamisora" storyline, her transformation causes tremors capable of shaking entire buildings, with supplementary materials indicating she can exceed the power of characters like Zena Hoshigami in this form.

Her personality presents as gentle but harbors stubbornness and intensity. She harbors romantic feelings for Shinkurō and openly pursues him, often using excuses like cooking meals to spend time with him. This results in jealousy toward other women close to him, including Murasaki Kuhōin, Ginko Murakami, and Benika Jūzawa. In the original novels and manga, this jealousy manifests as yandere tendencies—aggressive or threatening behavior triggered by rivals. She forcibly restrains Shinkurō in one manga arc to prevent conflict with the Kuhōin clan, resulting in a duel with Tamaki. The anime adaptation reduces these extreme traits, portraying her as more assertively romantic without overtly obsessive behavior.

Yūno participates in key plot events across adaptations. She attends Shinkurō's school events as a surrogate parental figure and intervenes in his conflicts, such as opposing his efforts to rescue Murasaki to protect him from powerful adversaries. Her role in the "Princess of Yugamisora" arc highlights her combat significance. She also faces personal struggles related to her family's violent legacy, viewed by others as burdened by their history.
