Description
Ryoshi Morino is a 16-year-old student standing approximately 176-178 cm tall, with mid-length dark hair often obscuring his eyes. He experiences scopophobia, an intense anxiety disorder causing extreme shyness and nervousness when stared at, leading him to cower or avoid attention. This phobia allows him to blend unnoticed into backgrounds, proving effective for stealth. His personality shifts dramatically when hidden or in darkness, becoming braver and more focused.

He operates a wrist-mounted slingshot with exceptional precision, firing pachinko balls as ammunition. His accuracy enables feats like hitting a baseball mid-air or disabling threats from afar. Despite his timid nature, he displays significant courage protecting Ryoko Okami, whom he deeply admires. After confessing to her and being rejected, he joins the Otogi Bank club to remain near her and prove his worth. His combat skills extend to capable close-quarters fighting when Ryoko is endangered, showcasing unexpected physical prowess.

He grew up in the countryside, developing observational skills taught by his grandfather. He owns two Akita dogs named Elizabeth and Françoise and resides with his aunt, Yukime Murano, a novelist. A specific admiration for legs is noted as a personality aspect.

His involvement with the Otogi Bank drives his development. Initially perceived as weak by Ryoko, he gradually earns her trust by demonstrating reliability during missions. Key moments include rescuing her from kidnappers by directly confronting their leader and fighting through his phobia. His determination to protect Ryoko fuels his growth, leading to confrontations with antagonists like Shiro Hitsujikai where he faces threats head-on despite anxiety.

Relationships center on his unwavering devotion to Ryoko. He observes her habits and vulnerabilities, recognizing her kind nature beneath her tough exterior. His actions aim to shield her from emotional and physical harm, forming a battle partnership where he supports her from shadows or intervenes directly in crises. He interacts with other club members, assisting Otsu Tsurugaya and triggering her compulsive favor-repayment behavior until others intervene. His bond with Ringo Akai involves shared concern for Ryoko’s well-being, with Ringo occasionally facilitating his integration.

Trivia notes his name: "Ryoshi" combines "clear" (亮) and "samurai/warrior" (士), while "Morino" means "forest field." His character parodies the Hunter from "Little Red Riding Hood," aligning with his protector role for Ryoko. His eyes exhibit a trait: his right eye opens during assertive moments, while the left remains visible in his usual timid state.
