Ma Chao, also known as Bachou Blue Destiny, appears in the special movie episode of the SD Gundam Sangokuden series. He is depicted as a mobile suit based on the Blue Destiny unit, inspired by the historical Chinese general Ma Chao of the Three Kingdoms period.

The character discovers Liu Bei Gundam, Guan Yu Gundam, and Zhang Fei Gundam washed up by a river after they are forced off a cliff by Koshin Gyan. Ma Chao rescues them and offers aid. When villagers report an invasion, Liu Bei rushes to help despite having lost the Ryuuteiken. Ma Chao attempts to stop him but ultimately decides to assist by searching for the lost weapon.

Ma Chao dives into a river near a waterfall, known to be inhabited by a dragon spirit. The spirit questions his purpose, and Ma Chao proclaims his desire to help shape the future of Mirisha. His efforts cause the Ryuuteiken to reappear at Liu Bei's feet during a battle against Koshin Gyan. Ma Chao and the village children then cheer on the three sworn brothers, enabling them to defeat their enemy.

The final scene of the movie's credits sequence shows a matured form of Ma Chao, though this design was not further explored in the main anime series adaptation.
