Description
Baron Ashura began as two Mycenaean priests, Tristan and Isolde, serving Archduke Gorgon’s empire. They joined a plot to assassinate Zeus after his abandonment of Uranus endangered Mycenae. When future versions intervened during the attempt, their own future selves perished. After failure, Tristan and Isolde entered stasis on Bardos Island.

Millennia later, Dr. Hell and associates Tsubasa Nishikiori and Kenzo Kabuto discovered their decaying bodies—Tristan’s right side and Isolde’s left deteriorating. A mysterious formula dissolved the decayed portions, and surgeons fused the remaining halves into Baron Ashura. Unbeknownst to Ashura, Dr. Hell induced the decay to enable fusion, implanting brainwashing tech to prevent attacks against himself, Tsubasa, or allies. This control lasted until Dr. Hell’s death.

Physically, Ashura manifests a dual-gender form: Tristan’s male half shows darker skin, a black eye, and thick eyebrow; Isolde’s female half displays lighter skin, makeup, and lipstick. Under the hood lies short black hair. Robes emphasize the split—black on Tristan’s side, purple on Isolde’s. As individuals, Tristan wore black with red armor; Isolde wore violet.

Personality reflects fierce loyalty—first to Dr. Hell and Mycenae—driving ruthless tactics like hostage-taking against enemies such as the Kabuto family or Zeus-like figures. Ashura reacts sharply to remarks about the fused body. Discovering Dr. Hell orchestrated the decay and murdered other Mycenaeans in stasis triggers profound betrayal, shifting loyalty solely to Mycenae. This culminates in a ritual self-sacrifice to awaken the empire.

Abilities include commanding Ashura Corps and Mechanical Beasts, masterful disguises (e.g., Inspector Ankokuji), and superhuman combat feats like sprinting on water or overpowering Mazinger Z. The brainwashing implant initially blocked attacks on Dr. Hell or Tsubasa. Post-Hell’s death, Ashura tears the body apart for the sacrificial ritual. The Bardos Wand enables Mechanical Beast control and brainwashing.

Relationships involve adversarial dynamics. Ashura served Dr. Hell unquestioningly but faced harsh punishments for failures, breeding distrust. A rivalry with Count Brocken featured mutual sabotage, while Viscount Pygman offered respect and aid. Persistent hostility targeted the Kabuto family, especially Tsubasa (who aided Ashura’s creation). Koji Kabuto became a primary foe due to Mazinger Z’s resemblance to Zeus, though Ashura briefly allied with him against Dr. Hell post-betrayal. This dissolved when Ashura prioritized awakening Mycenae.

In one mission, Ashura traveled to Germany to seize the unfinished Danube α1 Mechanical Beast from Schtroheim Heinrich. When Heinrich resisted, Ashura attacked, killing him and triggering his robot-daughter Lorelei to activate Donau Alpha 1. This highlighted Ashura’s relentless weapons procurement for Dr. Hell.

Ashura’s arc spans initial loyalty to Dr. Hell, repeated failures against Mazinger Z and the Photon Power Lab, and replacement by Brocken. After uncovering Dr. Hell’s deceptions about the fusion and Mycenaean genocide, Ashura plotted secretly while feigning loyalty. The uneasy alliance with Koji Kabuto against Dr. Hell collapsed once Ashura’s true goal—awakening Mycenae—took precedence. The arc concludes with Ashura’s ritualistic self-dismemberment, reviving the empire as Tristan and Isolde originally intended.
