Description
Abe no Yasuaki serves as Genbu of Earth among the Eight Guardians. An onmyōji, he is an artificial human created by the renowned historical figure and his deceased teacher, Abe no Seimei. This artificial origin results in a fundamental lack of human emotions and an intensely analytical, cold personality. Despite his expressionless and stoic exterior, he exhibits a childlike inability to comprehend emotions. Instances occur where he displays reactions incongruent with his perceived detachment, such as shedding tears with a blank face when confronted with the distress of the Priestess of the Dragon God, Akane Motomiya.

His dragon jewel resides beneath his right eye, and his elemental attribute is Mountain. As Genbu of Earth, he possesses spiritual abilities and knowledge crucial for combating supernatural threats like vengeful spirits and curses. During the Imperial Palace crisis depicted in *Maihitoyo*, where overwhelming spiritual taint caused severe illness among the nobility, he imparted essential purification knowledge to Akane when she was isolated and vulnerable, enabling her to overcome the initial purification failures and the nobility's bullying.

His character development centers significantly on his relationship with Akane Motomiya. He holds her in high regard, developing a profound fondness for her. Through interactions with her, particularly across various storylines, he begins to discover and understand human emotions like caring and feelings. This development culminates in his personal ending where he stays with Akane and explicitly reveals his feelings to her, indicating his progression from emotional absence to experiencing love. His journey is often framed as one where "The Power of Love" facilitates his transition towards becoming more human.

Among the Eight Guardians and allies like Minamoto no Yorihisa, Tenma Morimura, Fujiwara no Takamichi, Tachibana no Tomomasa, Shimon Nagareyama, Eisen, Inori, Kotengu, and Fuji-hime, he maintains consistent relationships, functioning primarily as a strategic and knowledgeable support. His primary adversaries are members of the Demon Clan, particularly Akuram and Shirin. While his narrative role varies slightly across adaptations, his core traits—artificial origin, analytical nature, emotional discovery facilitated by Akane, and role as Genbu of Earth—remain consistent.
