TV-Series
Description
Osmond, the white-haired, purple-eyed headmaster of Tristain Academy of Magic, often smokes his pipe. He is a respected Square-class wind mage, signifying great power and wisdom. However, this dignity is frequently undermined by his lecherous habit of using his familiar, a small white mouse named Motsognir, to spy on the undergarments of female staff and students, particularly his secretary Longueville. Despite this conduct, he retains the respect of the academy and the trust of the Tristain royal family.

Thirty years before the main events, Osmond encountered a massive dragon while traveling. A mortally wounded man in strange clothing, later revealed to be an American soldier from the Vietnam War, saved him. The soldier killed the dragon using a rocket launcher (later known as the "Staff of Destruction") before dying. Osmond buried the soldier with the spent weapon and presented a second, unused rocket launcher to the Tristain Royal Court, which was stored in the academy's vault.

During the Familiar Spirit Summoning Exam, Osmond observed from his chambers. He later consulted Professor Colbert about Saito Hiraga's familiar runes, identifying them as the legendary Gandálfr runes linked to the Void element. Recognizing the sensitivity, he ordered Colbert to keep it secret.

When Count Mott arrived as a royal emissary, Osmond received warnings about the thief Fouquet the Crumbling Earth targeting the Staff of Destruction. After Fouquet stole the artifact during Princess Henrietta's visit, Osmond tasked Louise, Kirche, and Tabitha with its retrieval, assigning Longueville as their guide – unaware Longueville was Fouquet in disguise. Following Fouquet's capture and the artifact's recovery, Osmond explained the Staff's origins to Saito, recounting the story of the American soldier.

In the OVA episode, Osmond conspired with male students to trick female students into wearing swimsuits from Saito's world. He falsely presented them as sacred garments for a water spirit ritual, using his authority to orchestrate the event.

Osmond continued as headmaster through subsequent major events, including the Albion invasion and the conflict with the Ancient Dragon. His leadership and access to sensitive information, like the nature of Void magic, remained consistent. His personal conduct, especially the inappropriate use of his familiar for espionage, persisted unchanged.
