Description
Longueville, whose true name is Matilda de Saxe-Gotha (or Sachsen-Gotha), operates under aliases including Fouquet and "Fouquet the Crumbling Earth." Once part of Albion's high nobility, her family lost their status for unrevealed reasons, though Matilda retained her magical abilities. She later adopted the Longueville identity to serve as secretary to Headmaster Osmond at Tristain Academy of Magic, using the position for intelligence gathering while secretly acting as the thief Fouquet.

As Fouquet, she specialized in stealing magical artifacts from nobles, employing earth magic to transmute walls, doors, or locks into sand and leaving taunting messages. Her signature method involved summoning a regenerative stone golem for brute-force thefts or diversions. She joined the revolutionary group Reconquista, motivated by financial gain and resentment toward the nobility. At the academy, she monitored events like Louise de la Vallière's summoning of Saito Hiraga, showing particular interest in his Gandálfr runes. She orchestrated the theft of the "Staff of Destruction" from the academy vault during a familiar exhibition, using her golem to breach defenses. Her dual identity was exposed when she betrayed Louise, Kirche, and Tabitha during a mission to capture Fouquet, leading to her arrest by the Tristain Royal Guard.

After imprisonment, an accomplice, later revealed as fellow Reconquista agent Jean-Jacques Wardes, broke her out. She then collaborated directly with Reconquista leadership, including strategic meetings with Cromwell. In later events, she traveled to Albion's town of Westwood, reconnecting with Tiffania, the half-elf daughter of Albion's late archduke. Matilda had previously aided Tiffania's escape from Albion soldiers and provided ongoing support for her and orphaned children; Tiffania viewed her as an older sister. A tense encounter occurred when Saito's group arrived at Tiffania's cottage; Matilda advised Saito about inevitable future conflicts before departing.

Her story continued through collaborations with Wardes, undertaking missions for Pope Vittorio, such as infiltrating the Sahara Desert to retrieve or eliminate Saito and Tiffania after their capture by elves, ensuring Void magic's transfer if needed. She remained active in later geopolitical conflicts involving Romalia and Gallia.

Matilda is a triangle-class earth mage with documented abilities including earth penetration, golem summoning, levitation, and shockwave generation. Her combat style relies on transmutation magic to bypass barriers and the strategic use of her durable golem. A key weakness is overconfidence leading to carelessness when she believes she has the upper hand; she reacts strongly to references about her age.

Her relationships include maintaining a professional facade as Osmond's diligent secretary, frequently deflecting his inappropriate behavior. As Fouquet, she maintained a professional alliance with Wardes under Reconquista. Her most complex bond is with Tiffania, whom she protected with near-maternal devotion, concealing her criminal activities from her.
