Bon Clay, also known as Bentham or Bon Curry, embodies flamboyance and unwavering devotion to friendship. This okama punctuates sentences with a feminine yet assertive "wa yo" and declares "Jodan janai wa yo!" ("It's not a joke!"). His appearance features heavy makeup and extravagant swan-themed ballet attire, prominently displaying the number "2" – a remnant of his Baroque Works codename, Mr. 2 Bon Kurei. Initially an antagonist within Baroque Works, Bon Clay impersonated King Nefertari Cobra to manipulate events during the Arabasta conflict. His openly emotional nature clashed with fellow agents, notably Mr. 1. His priorities shifted after forming a swift bond with Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates. He aided them by concealing their ship and luring away pursuing Marines, an act that moved the crew. Bon Clay affectionately addresses the Straw Hats by distinctive traits (e.g., "Straw-Chan" for Luffy, "Nose-Chan" for Usopp), with Luffy reciprocating as "Bon-chan". Bon Clay's core principle is his self-proclaimed "okama way" of absolute loyalty to friends, leading to repeated sacrifices for Luffy and the crew. He delayed Captain Hina during their Arabasta escape. Later, within Impel Down, he enabled Luffy’s escape by opening the Gates of Justice, choosing to confront Warden Magellan. Presumed dead, he survived and became queen of Level 5.5, Newkama Land. His selflessness deeply impacted former Baroque Works associate Galdino (Mr. 3), who later sought to honor him. In Impel Down, Bon Clay developed profound respect for Emporio Ivankov, hailing them as the greatest okama for saving his and Luffy’s lives. Ivankov, in turn, was moved by Bon Clay’s fierce friendship with Luffy. During the non-canon event *Take Aim! The Pirate Baseball King*, Bon Clay served as an energetic announcer alongside Buggy for a game between the Straw Hat Pirates and Fish-Men Pirates. He provided all character voices alongside commentary, driving the special’s comedic tone with reactions to absurd plays like Zoro wielding three bats or Luffy’s "Gomu Gomu no Home Run." He remained on commentary until the end, while Buggy quit after being struck by the ball.
