Description
Ayeka Masaki Jurai, formally Masaki Aeka Jurai, serves as the First Princess of the Jurai Imperial Family. She is the eldest daughter of Emperor Azusa Masaki Jurai and Empress Misaki Kamiki Jurai, with Sasami Masaki Jurai as her younger sister. Her half-brother, Prince Yosho, was her betrothed before vanishing centuries earlier.

Detecting the resurgence of space pirate Ryoko Hakubi, whom she blamed for attacking Jurai and causing Yosho's departure 700 years prior, Ayeka embarked on a prolonged search for Yosho. She tracked Ryoko to Earth. Her Royal Treeship, Ryu-Oh, suffered damage during a confrontation with Ryoko and crash-landed, stranding her. While capturing Ryoko and Tenchi Masaki, Ayeka discovered Tenchi could wield Yosho's Master Key sword—proof of his Juraian royal lineage—prompting her to remain at the Masaki household.

She embodies aristocratic refinement, marked by formal speech and traditional demeanor. This persona conceals a naturally spirited and affectionate nature inherited from her mother Misaki. Ayeka adopted this refined character during childhood, idolizing her stepmother Funaho's calm elegance. She used gene manipulation to alter her hair color and behavior, aiming to impress Yosho. Despite her poise, Ayeka displays fierce protectiveness toward Sasami and Tenchi, alongside volatile aggression when provoked, often clashing with Ryoko. Their rivalry stems from opposing backgrounds and competing affections for Tenchi, though Ayeka prioritizes unity against threats like Kagato or interdimensional dangers.

Ayeka gradually develops romantic feelings for Tenchi, recognizing similarities to Yosho. Yosho, disguised as Katsuhito Masaki and acknowledging their age difference and his familial love, later blesses their union, releasing her from their betrothal. Their relationship culminates in marriage and pregnancy, depicted in later OVAs.

As a Juraian royal, Ayeka possesses an extended lifespan, maintaining an apparent age of 17–20 despite being centuries old. Her powers include flight, energy blasts, telekinetic force fields, and superhuman strength honed by Misaki's martial arts training. While less potent than Tenchi or Ryoko, she contends with adversaries like Kagato and Galaxy Police officers. Her Ryu-Oh ship generated three Light Hawk Wings—cosmic defensive energies. Ayeka uniquely weaponized these at age 14 during Ryoko's attack on Jurai, though the ship was destroyed. The Juraian goddess Tsunami gifted her a seed to regrow Ryu-Oh.

Across alternate continuities:
- In *Tenchi Universe*, she is a minor royal who flees Jurai to rejoin Tenchi on Earth after Kagato's defeat.
- In *Tenchi in Tokyo*, she assists Washu's research, exhibits heightened emotional volatility, and is first to recognize Tenchi's magical separation from the household.
- In *Pretty Sammy* spin-offs, she appears as Romio, a fallen magical girl scheming against Juraihelm, and as Ayeka Takada, a class rival to Ryoko in comedic settings.

Her name, romanized as "Ayeka" for Western pronunciation clarity, derives from *aekanaru* (frail/delicate), reflecting her outward demeanor. It links to willow tree symbolism in Japanese mythology, representing demon-repelling traits and her dynamic with Ryoko.
