Yumi Takada

Description
Yumi Takada is a former Japanese voice actress born on September 21, 1961, in Tokyo. She was affiliated with the talent management firm 81 Produce throughout her career. Takada began working in the industry in 1979 and was active until approximately 2009.

Her voice acting career flourished during the late 1980s and 1990s, a period considered her heyday. She possessed a slightly boyish, husky vocal quality that allowed her to portray a wide range of characters, from young girls to mature women. Takada was particularly prolific in original video animations, including many titles in the fantasy and adult-oriented genres. For work in such roles, she sometimes used the pseudonym Saki Iijima.

Takada is perhaps best recognized by mainstream audiences for her long-running role as Midori Yoshinaga, the kindergarten teacher, in the popular television series Crayon Shin-chan, a part she played from 1992. Another signature role was Ayeka Masaki Jurai in the enduring Tenchi Muyo! franchise, which included multiple OVAs and television series throughout the 1990s. She also voiced Chitose Fujinomiya in Goldfish Warning!.

In addition to these prominent roles, Takada built an extensive filmography of supporting and guest characters across a wide variety of anime. Her television credits include appearances in major series such as Ranma ½, City Hunter, Detective Conan, Sailor Moon Sailor Stars, and Please Teacher!. She also contributed to the tokusatsu genre, providing voices for characters in Kamen Rider Agito and Kamen Rider Ryuki. Beyond animation, her work included dubbing foreign films into Japanese, such as the role of Courtney Rawlinson in American Psycho.

Around October 2009, Yumi Takada ceased her voice acting activities. Her long-standing roles in Crayon Shin-chan and Tenchi Muyo! were subsequently taken over by fellow voice actress Haruhi Terada. The departure from the industry was attributed to health issues, specifically a skin condition. Although no longer active in voice acting, she remained listed with her agency, 81 Produce, as of the early 2020s.
