Amu Fannelia operates with bandits in Koam's wastelands, targeting Daba Myroad and Mirao Kyao to steal the Heavy Metal L-Gaim. Witnessing Daba's actions prompts her defection from the bandits and triggers strong romantic feelings for him, compelling her to join Daba and Kyao. She accompanies them to Prearmo to deliver a cash card to trader Amandara Kamandara. There, they meet Lillith Fuau and continue together. Following Amandara to the planet Mizum, Amu participates in stealing a space shuttle, inadvertently bringing Poseidal officer Gaw Ha Leccee. On Mizum, she fights Poseidal forces alongside Stella Coban's rebels. After a devastating Poseidal assault kills Stella Coban and many rebels, Amu chooses to stay on Mizum while Daba, Kyao, Lillith, and Leccee depart. She later rejoins unexpectedly, arriving in the space shuttle Turner provided by Amandara Kamandara, assuming its captaincy. Her timely return is crucial, rescuing the group during a dangerous assault on Poseidal's capital, Sveto, on Gastogal. Her romantic attachment to Daba fuels pronounced jealousy, particularly towards Leccee, who also harbors feelings for him. This rivalry sparks frequent conflicts beyond their competition for Daba's affection. Despite this tension, Amu demonstrates considerable dedication to Daba and the rebellion. She actively improves her skills as a pilot and leader. When Daba acquires the L-Gaim Mk-II, Amu takes over as primary pilot of the original L-Gaim unit. During the final assault on Sveto, she pilots the L-Gaim, providing vital support to the rebel bombardment. She fights alongside Leccee piloting the Novel D'ssert. Following Poseidal's defeat, she is present for the farewell to Daba and Olibee on Koam, concluding her rebellion involvement. Her bandit background contributes to her combat competence, establishing her as a capable fighter and pilot. Her development centers on unwavering loyalty to Daba and efforts to increase her effectiveness within the rebellion, transitioning from bandit to trusted team member and captain of the Turner.
