TV-Series
Description
Stags is a stag beetle-type Invectid who initially serves as one of Lord Mantid's most powerful generals within the elite Big Four, second only to Buguese in combat prowess. His formidable strength, unwavering loyalty to the Invectid cause, and strong sense of honor define him. He wields a short zanbato and maintains rigorous training regimens to keep his combat skills sharp.

Physically imposing with a tall, humanoid stag beetle appearance, Stags bears one broken horn lost in a confrontation with Hunter Steele and Shadow. His design restricts visible mouth movement when speaking.

Stags demonstrates a complex moral code, showing respect to adversaries he deems worthy, exemplified when he allowed Corona and Igneous to escape after acknowledging their strength. He served as lead commander during the invasion of the human kingdom of Nuuma under Mantid's orders to secure the Oracle Keys. After repeated failures, Mantid forcibly transferred command to Buguese.

Stags later confronted Hunter and Shadow to stall them while Buguese sought the Nuuman Oracle Key. In their rematch, he initially overpowered Hunter even with two Oracle Keys. However, Hunter and Shadow, empowered by a third key, ultimately defeated him. This defeat stemmed from a duel where Hunter, initially unable to summon an Oracle Key's power, was granted reprieve when Grasshop stole the key. Demonstrating honor, Stags retrieved and returned the key to Hunter, enabling Hunter to access its full power and break Stags' horn. This loss shattered his warrior spirit, prompting him to discard his broken sword and cape, quit the Big Four, and enter self-imposed exile in Nuuma instead of returning to the Invectid Nation with Beerain.

Stags eventually returned to Invectid territory, witnessing Buguese's expulsion from the Dark Opal fortress. He offered Buguese water, expressed no resentment over the earlier command transfer in Nuuma, and found his diminished warrior spirit reignited. In the conflict's final stages, Stags, alongside Buguese and Beerain, intervened to protect the Spider Riders from Mantid's attacks. He further assisted Buguese in delivering the two Oracle Keys in Buguese's possession to Hunter. Following Mantid's defeat by Hunter, Stags observed the Spirit Oracle's sunlight illuminating the Invectid Nation for the first time in over a century, marking the war's end.

His personality in the original Japanese version included prolonged, almost psychotic laughter, notably toned down in the English adaptation.
