Description
Nineteen-year-old Asap Suzuki works part-time in Iwakuni City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Born to Japanese mother Tokiko Suzuki and American father Alex Gorem, a U.S. military colonel, Asap is biracial, his blond hair a visible marker of his heritage. He uses his mother's surname, reflecting unresolved paternal issues and a strained relationship with his father. This familial tension fuels his rebelliousness and alienation.
Asap becomes an inadvertent fugitive when friends fire a rocket at a U.S. military base, implicating him in a terrorist incident. Pursued by both American forces and Japanese police, he flees. During his escape, he encounters a rising sea surface and a luminous phenomenon that draws him aboard an otherworldly battleship. There, he meets Lyukusu Sakomizu, princess of Byston Well's Houjou nation, who requests his aid. This encounter transports him to Byston Well alongside Lyukusu and others.
In Byston Well, the Wings of Rean, manifesting as winged boots, select Asap as their bearer, designating him a "Holy Warrior" capable of traversing worlds via the Aura Road. This selection connects to his deep-seated desire for escape. He pilots the previously unclaimed Aura Battler Nanajin, achieving rapid ace-level proficiency due to an innate synchronization. The unit's performance intensifies with his growing aura power. After traversing the Aura Road back to Earth, it transforms color to red, referenced in supplementary materials as "Ackananajin".
Asap's development intertwines with confronting Shinjiro Sakomizu, Lyukusu's father and king of Houjou. Sakomizu, a WWII-era Japanese pilot displaced to Byston Well, plans to destroy modern Tokyo to purge Western influence. Asap opposes this. Visions of WWII atrocities shown by the Wings of Rean foster empathy for Sakomizu's trauma but solidify Asap's resolve to prevent further violence. This conflict forces Asap to reconcile his identity and familial discord, especially after learning his father seeks reconciliation by adopting the Suzuki surname.
During the Tokyo Bay confrontation, Asap works to thwart Sakomizu's nuclear attack and neutralize threats like Codorre Sakomizu. Following Sakomizu's sacrificial redemption, the connection between Earth and Byston Well severs. Asap visits Sakomizu's hometown with Lyukusu to honor the fallen king. Lyukusu subsequently fades from existence, leaving Asap's future uncertain.
