Description
Heiji Kanamoto, a university student engaged in anti-government activism, collaborated with comrade Rouri Yahan to resist Japan’s alignment with U.S. military interests. Their dissent escalated into a rocket assault on a U.S. Army base in Iwakuni, forcing them into flight. Pursued by authorities, they were thrust into Byston Well, an alternate realm where they commandeered advanced biomechanical weapons called Aura Battlers.
Once a fervent adherent to Rouri’s leadership, Kanamoto’s demeanor shifted upon wielding the Aura Battlers’ devastating power. Both youths grew intoxicated by their machines’ annihilation potential, forging an alliance with Shinjirō Sakomizu’s expansionist Houjou army. This pact shattered their former camaraderie with Asap Suzuki, who resisted Sakomizu’s tyrannical aims, pitting the ex-allies against each other.
As a Houjou combatant, Kanamoto operated the Shinden-model Aura Battler, driven by escalating militaristic fervor and hunger for dominance. His trajectory mirrored themes of technological corruption, as weaponry amplified his ruthless pragmatism. Though bested by Asap in their final clash, the anime’s narrative left his ultimate fate unresolved, suspended in the wake of battle.
