Description
Lien Neville is a British assassin working for the criminal syndicate Addes and its affiliates. Her past is marked by profound personal tragedy and tangled loyalties. At age ten, her parents were murdered by Duke, a high-ranking member of Addes's Mephistopheles syndicate, after her father tried to leave Addes. Duke spared Lien against orders and raised her to be an elite assassin under him. This forged intense hatred and a vow to kill him, interwoven with gratitude for his mentorship and the skills he imparted, evolving into deeper, ambiguous feelings over time.

Her personality reflects her traumatic upbringing and profession. She is cold, remorseless, and efficient, viewing killing as a duty—a demeanor deliberately cultivated by Duke. Despite her ruthlessness, she harbors internal conflict over her relationship with Duke, balancing her oath of vengeance with a twisted sense of obligation, a duality central to her motivations.

In the OVA *The King of Fighters: Another Day*, Episode 2 ("Accede"), Lien is sent to Geese Tower to eliminate targets linked to Geese Howard. Confronting Billy Kane on the rooftop, their fight escalates until Billy gains the advantage and tries to throw her off. Rock Howard intervenes, saving her. After Rock voices disillusionment with his father's legacy, Billy attacks both. Lien activates her Shien Ose satellite weapon, summoning a beam attack targeting the rooftop. Observing Rock's resolve and acknowledging his help, she abandons her mission. The two briefly explore the tower's interior, noting the absence of Rock's mother's portrait among damaged paintings, before parting.

Her skills emphasize lethal precision and technology. She employs "Homicidal Karate," a close-combat system targeting pressure points and anatomical weaknesses, augmented by hidden weapons like knives. Her signature tool is the Shien Ose—a bracelet linked to a satellite weapon firing energy beams upon her command. She also uses "Energy Geyser," generating concentrated energy bursts through ground strikes. Tactically, she prioritizes effectiveness over stealth, contrasting traditional assassin tropes. Her often conspicuous, tight-fitting attire incorporates GPS functionality for mission coordination.

Her broader story arc reveals she killed Fate, mentor to Alba and Soiree Meira, under Duke's orders during a sanctioned duel. Later, she learns Jivatma—not Duke—ordered her parents' execution, shifting her vengeance target to Jivatma and Addes leadership. In *Maximum Impact 2*, Duke sacrifices himself to protect her from Jivatma's attack, further complicating their bond. After Jivatma's defeat, she aligns with Duke to dismantle Addes, transitioning from personal revenge to a collaborative goal. Her narrative phase concludes with her alongside Duke, suggesting a tentative, strategically motivated partnership.
