Description
Nagumo Tatsuo begins as a shy, socially awkward high school student harboring lecherous impulses. His existence shifts irrevocably when chosen as the vessel for the Chōjin—a prophesied entity fated to unite or shatter three interlinked realms: humanity’s domain, the demonic abyss, and the man-beast wilds. This destiny binds him to father the Overfiend, a messianic force whose emergence demands cataclysmic destruction to forge a new world order.

A volatile duality fractures his psyche. The Overfiend’s latent power erupts involuntarily during intense arousal or peril, unleashing savage, uncontrollable rampages that slaughter nearby men and subject women to violations. Nagumo recalls none of these episodes, cleaving his consciousness between mundane adolescence and the Chōjin’s carnage.

Media adaptations diverge in key dynamics. The manga portrays Nagumo’s girlfriend, Akemi Itō, as sexually assertive, sparking rivalry with Amano Megumi—his protector’s sister. Megumi’s manga antagonism escalates into summoning a sea demon to kill Akemi, a subplot absent in the anime, where Megumi remains less vindictive. The anime further expands the lore with the man-beast realm, absent from the manga’s dual-world framework.

Nagumo’s arc spirals from defiance to grim acceptance of his role as the Chōjin’s progenitor. His surrender to destiny ignites apocalypse: realms collapse into each other, civilizations crumble, and his offspring emerges as both herald and conqueror of the reborn world.

Secondary figures amplify his turmoil. Amano Jyaku, a man-beast guardian bound to shield Nagumo, clashes with Suikakujū, a demonic adversary striving to halt the Chōjin’s ascent. Their struggles underscore the moral chaos entwined with Nagumo’s path—salvation and annihilation interwoven.

Later OVAs and spin-offs trace Nagumo’s legacy in fractured, post-apocalyptic landscapes. Survivors grapple with fallout from his choices, navigating themes of cyclical ruin and fragile redemption. While Nagumo recedes from focus, his actions ripple through new protagonists and the realms’ ever-shifting balance.
