Description
Arus, central protagonist and direct descendant of the legendary hero Roto through the Carmen royal lineage, was born prince of Carmen. His infancy turned tragic when demonic forces, channeled through a statue manipulated by the Dragonlord, possessed his father, leading to his mother's murder. Rescued during the attack by the knight Lunafrea, Arus was raised in secret for ten years to shield him from the Dragonlord and the primary antagonist Imagine, who sought to corrupt the Roto bloodline.
His early childhood, depicted in the film, revealed physical frailty alongside developing foundational abilities. At age seven, he formed a crucial friendship with Kira and encountered the fairy Tie. During this period, he learned his first spell, Frizz, using it to defeat the monster Chewlip, marking his initial steps toward heroism. He underwent rigorous training under Lunafrea in the "Carmen sword style" and the sage Kadal in magic. Residing in Isis to evade enemies, he met Kira, who became his closest companion and eventual rival in swordsmanship; his competitive drive sometimes led to overexertion.
His journey involved confronting Jagan, the corrupted descendant of Roto from the Loran kingdom, bearing a demonic name bestowed by Imagine. In their initial duel, Jagan killed Arus, but Kira resurrected him using the Yggdrasil Leaf. While in the spirit world, Arus gained deeper insight into the value of his bonds, strengthening his resolve. Following intensive retraining, he defeated Jagan in a rematch, freeing him from his curse and temporarily gaining him as an ally named Alan. However, the threat of Imagine forced the dissolution of this alliance to ensure Alan's safety.
His equipment evolved significantly. He initially wielded a unique sword forged from light, gifted by Kadal, which shattered battling Jagan. This was replaced by the Ortega sword, inherited from his ancestor and reforged into the orichalcum Sword of Arus after retrieval from Arihan. He later wore the Armour of Light and carried the Shield of the Hero, completing his iconic ensemble; these artifacts were damaged during the final confrontation with Imagine but restored afterward.
Magically, his abilities expanded beyond foundational spells learned under Kadal. His primary offensive spell was "Rydein," later augmented by "Snub," "Mina Dain," and "Giga Dain." Collaboration with the gadabout-turned-sage Poron significantly enhanced his magical potency. His ultimate narrative arc culminated in leading his companions against Imagine. The conflict resulted in the near-destruction of his armor and weapons during the battle, though they were ultimately restored. This victory fulfilled his destiny as Roto's heir, restoring peace.
