OVA
Description
Hisashi Uehara is a popular, academically gifted student and a three-time consecutive member of his school's "Top Three Hottest Guys," his mature looks often causing people to mistake him for older. Orphaned in elementary school after his parents died in an accident, he was raised by his older brother, Takuya. He harbored a six-year crush on Yuri, but her marriage to Takuya, despite knowing his feelings, caused Hisashi significant heartbreak and led him to leave home.

Naturally aloof and antisocial, Hisashi maintains a cold, distant demeanor that seems to disregard others' feelings. He excels academically without effort and is skilled in sports, embodying a natural "Ace." He dislikes unsolicited physical touch, reflecting underlying commitment issues, and possesses specific quirks like becoming intensely upset if someone takes his milk pudding. His reserved nature stems from unresolved familial trauma and his unrequited love for Yuri.

His life shifts when he and Nao Yoshikawa are scammed into renting the same apartment, forcing them into cohabitation. Initially indifferent to Nao, he gradually develops romantic feelings for her, though he struggles to express them openly. Jealousy surfaces when others like Daichi Shinozaki or Issei Sato show interest in Nao. A pivotal moment occurs when Yuri tricks him into confessing his feelings for Nao, revealing he has moved past his crush on Yuri. They begin dating, but Hisashi's emotional unavailability causes friction as he neglects typical couple activities and fails to reassure Nao.

Hisashi shows gradual emotional growth. In an OVA set after their relationship begins, Nao forgetting his birthday leads to minor conflict, highlighting his subtle vulnerability and desire for her attention. In the sequel manga *Good Morning Kiss*, as college students, they face new challenges including rumors about marriage proposals after moving into separate but adjacent apartments; this arrangement results from their landlady's son needing space and Hisashi's stated desire for independence, though he reassures Nao they remain connected. His protectiveness persists, such as confronting Nao's friend Natsume over suspected romantic advances.

His interactions with others illustrate his development. His complex relationship with Takuya involves lingering resentment but eventual reconciliation, marked by Takuya's affectionate gestures that Hisashi initially rejects. He works part-time jobs, including at a café owned by Nanako's father, handling Nanako's misplaced admiration with firm boundaries. In the live-action drama's second season, *Our Campus Days*, he takes a lab job under Saeko Kumanomido; Saeko's unkempt appearance and first-name basis preference create minor misunderstandings with Nao, but he remains committed to their relationship despite temporary breakups.
