Description
Mongaa serves as Rasa's non-human companion in the 1984 OVA *Birth*. As a member of Monga's Tribe, Mongaa allies with Nam and Rasa against the Inorganic lifeforms endangering the embryonic universe. Aboard their spaceship, Mongaa journeys alongside Nam, Rasa, the smoking elder Bao Luzen, and others, striving to wield the mystical sword Shade—forged from crystallized light energy—to annihilate the Inorganics and catalyze universal rebirth.
The character emerged during *Birth*'s 1982 development phase through collaboration between animator Yoshinori Kanada, writer Junki Takegami, and producer Akihiro Nagao. Visual elements of Mongaa and the tribe potentially reflect influences from Kanada's prior projects, including background characters and mechanical designs in *Makyô Densetsu Acrobunch*'s opening sequences, which share similarities with *Birth*'s Inorganics and their adversaries.
Mongaa participates in the collective resistance against the Inorganic threat. Japanese voice actress Fuyumi Shiraishi originally portrayed the character, while Matt Hislope provided the voice for ADV Films' 2004 English dub.
