Description
Zuru, born Yuuzuru Oozora, maintains a mild-mannered and reserved student facade. He befriends classmates Ikki and Arika while deliberately projecting limited Robattle skill. This carefully constructed image hides his alter ego: the cloaked vigilante known as the Mystery Medafighter, dedicated to destroying all Death Medarots (localized as Kilobots). His motivation springs from deep resentment towards these robots, as their creator, Dr. Maizuru Oozora, is his father. Zuru blames the Death Medarots for transforming his father into an emotionally absent workaholic who neglected his family.

Operating as the Mystery Medafighter, Zuru employs ruthless tactics, antagonizing Death Medarot users without provocation. He treats his primary combat Medabot, Dorcus (localized as Roks), as a disposable tool rather than a partner. To preserve his unassuming identity, he initially uses a DonDoguu Medabot socially, later transferring its Medal to a Tyrrellbeetle for his vigilante activities, enabling his undetected dual life.

Zuru's backstory features a pivotal childhood visit to his father's workplace. There, a young Nae (later revealed as Dr. Aki's granddaughter) taught him Robattle fundamentals and the philosophy that Medabots deserve friendship as partners. This lesson starkly contrasted with his father's subsequent development of emotionless Death Medarots and dismissal of Dr. Aki's "Medabots as friends" ethos. His father's growing obsession, including boasts about replacing all Medabots with Kilobots, fueled Zuru's anger and destructive drive.

His escalating vigilante actions draw criticism from allies like Nae, who points out his hypocrisy in mirroring the cruelty he condemns. She urges him to confront his father directly instead of blaming the robots, advice Zuru initially rejects. A turning point occurs when Ginkai's Medabot, Arc-Dash, is brutally dismantled by Kam's forces. Witnessing this cruelty, Zuru discards his glasses and publicly reveals himself as the Mystery Medafighter to challenge Kam directly.

Facing earlier exposure risks when Kam enlists Banjo to identify him, Zuru attempts a ruse. He programs commands for Roks and Tyrrellbeetle to battle autonomously, hoping to disprove his connection. When this fails and his Medabots are overpowered, Nae intervenes by disguising Honey as the Mystery Medafighter, temporarily preserving his secret.

Throughout the conflict, Zuru's relationship with his Medabots evolves. He gradually shifts from viewing Roks purely instrumentally toward acknowledging partnership and loyalty, influenced by observing bonds like Ikki and Metabee's. This development culminates in his ultimate stand against Kam, where he fights alongside his Medabots to protect others, demonstrating his integration of the friendship values Nae instilled years prior.
