Description
Jaruguar serves as a Decepticon Breastforce Warrior under Emperor Deathsaurus during Transformers: Victory. Designated the team's "Cyberneticist," though the title's exact meaning is undefined, he functions as a disciplined and obedient soldier within this elite unit. His personality reflects a serious, by-the-book approach; he diligently follows orders and specializes in eliminating targets escaping his aerial comrades using his "Spiral Attack" missile volley. Key flaws include a significant lack of imagination and a critical absence of initiative, often leaving him immobilized by confusion when facing unexpected situations without explicit instructions.
He transforms into a black and white Baja-style racing buggy featuring a rear-mounted missile rack; these missile warheads detach and clip to the sides of his feet in robot mode. His defining gimmick is his chestplate partner, Jaguarbreast, which detaches to transform into either a robotic jaguar or a hand-held "Jaguar Cannon." Mechanically unique among Breastforce members, a secondary chestplate springs forward upon Jaguarbreast's removal. He is also armed with an Electromagnetic Nunchaku.
Within the Breastforce's combined form, Liokaiser, Jaruguar forms the lower torso. His detached missiles integrate with Killbison’s cannons to create Liokaiser’s "Strike Missile Gun."
In the Victory anime, Jaruguar arrives on Earth alongside Drillhorn and Killbison to reinforce Leozack. His missions include assaults on energy infrastructure like a desert plant and Neo Uranium Mines. During an operation draining subway energy, he demonstrates loyalty by cautioning Leozack against criticizing Deathsaurus, provoking Leozack's anger. He narrowly avoids an oncoming train, inadvertently causing passenger panic, and later relays Deathsaurus’s retreat order. Subsequent operations involve stealing gasoline from Marine City, hijacking oil tankers, tapping Canadian hydroelectric power, capturing human spacecraft, and raiding energy sources like the Schaeffer plant, Antarctic ice fields, and Mount Asama geothermal plant. During the Canadian mission, while searching for Autobots Mach and Tackle, he locates a communicator and a fish before Tackle ambushes him, burying his face in the dirt.
He accompanies the Breastforce to planet Micro’s moon to rescue Guyhawk. Following Guyhawk’s liberation, the team combines as Liokaiser for their first victory over Star Saber. Later, during a desert ambush against the Brainmasters and Greatshot, he interrupts a potential argument between Leozack and Guyhawk by delivering a summons from Deathsaurus. Jaruguar participates in the final Earth operation raising Atlantis to plunder its energy. Departing Earth, the Breastforce helps reactivate Deathsaurus’s fortress. In the ensuing battle, Liokaiser is blasted into the fortress’s main cannon by Victory Leo, draining his energy and leaving him adrift in space.
Post-Victory, in the Zone era, Jaruguar is revived alongside Liokaiser by Deathsaurus. Under the rebranded "Dark Emperor," they assault planet Zone to steal Energon Z but are repelled by Micromasters.
Within the Victory manga, Jaruguar appears silently during Guyhawk’s report to Deathsaurus about Leozack’s mission. Later, as part of Liokaiser, he battles Star Saber on Energy Planet X, petitioning his teammates to destroy Star Saber when captured. Star Saber exploits this discord, forcing Liokaiser to retreat. In subsequent battles, including assistance from Deathsaurus and Dinoking, the Breastforce is repeatedly defeated, culminating in retreat to Deathsaurus’s space stronghold after a failed Earth meteor bombardment. The series concludes with a truce.
In the 2005 IDW continuity, Jaruguar is part of Deathsaurus’s contingent on the Warworld, aligned with Tarn and the Decepticon Justice Division against Megatron.
His toy was released individually in 1989 (Takara D-332) and in a complete Breastforce gift set (D-335). A Kre-O Micro-Changer figure was released in 2014.
