Description
Godwin operates as an alchemist in the frontier town of Zoltan and its surrounding areas. He became notorious for developing and perfecting the dangerous Devil's Blessing drug, an artificial ability enhancer carrying significant risks. This work initially aligned him with criminal elements, specifically Bighawk and the Thieves Guild, casting him as an antagonist against the protagonists early on.

Godwin openly acknowledges his conventionally villainous nature yet adheres to a distinct personal code. He holds profound contempt for other villains who delude themselves into believing they are righteous heroes, a defining trait that later drives his actions.

A pivotal encounter with Ares Srowa, the former second-in-command of the Hero's Party, within ancient elf ruins triggers significant development. Recognizing Ares as an unstable psychopath, Godwin's initial reaction is fear and a desire to flee. However, Ares's persistent insistence on his own heroic righteousness provokes Godwin's deep-seated hatred for self-justifying villains. This motivates him to overcome his fear and actively assist the protagonists against Ares.

This decision marks Godwin's transition from minor antagonist to a more complex supporting character. His assistance stems not from a moral realignment, but from his specific aversion to hypocrisy in villainy. He aids the group strategically, leveraging his alchemical knowledge and resources.

A notable aspect of his involvement includes discovering Red's true identity as Gideon Ragnason, the former Hero's Party member, making him one of the few privy to this secret. His role continues to evolve as he becomes integrated into events surrounding Zoltan and its inhabitants.
