Description
Chief Amano leads the Miami City Police Department as its frugal, budget-conscious chief and father to Lu Amano. His frustration peaks during payday, exacerbated by the antics of affluent officer Yao Sakurakouji, whose reckless theatrics strain both resources and his patience.

Sporting a dated afro that draws persistent mockery from colleagues—a trait he resents—his initial design as a Black character was revised after Lu’s introduction as his biological daughter, though the hairstyle remained a signature feature.

Operationally, he displays flashes of courage, such as volunteering to swap places with a hostage, though Yao’s interventions often sabotage these efforts. His leadership veers between authoritarianism and visible vulnerability, particularly when confronting institutional ineptitude or political pressure from Yao’s powerful family.

Pragmatic yet strained by chaos, he balances efficiency with managing his team’s disruptions. Though he privately wishes to dismiss Yao, her family’s influence renders the act impossible. Beyond his role as chief and parent to Lu, his personal history remains largely unexplored, anchoring his narrative to professional challenges and familial duty.
