Mitsuru Ogata is a Japanese voice actor born on March 24, 1961, in Aomori Prefecture, Japan. He is affiliated with the talent agency Mausu Promotion. Ogata began his career after graduating from the Tokyo Announcement Academy in 1987 and joining the training program of the agency then known as Ezaki Production, which later became Mausu Promotion. His professional voice acting career started around 1989.

Ogata has built a prolific career with a vast number of roles across television animation, original video animations, and video games. He is known for his versatility, often playing supporting characters, authority figures, villains, and creatures. He is also a regular voice in dubbed versions of foreign films and television series, providing the Japanese voice for actors such as Stanley Tucci. One of his most prominent recurring dubbing roles is as the character Piglet in the Winnie the Pooh franchise, a role he has voiced in numerous films and series. He also voices Kenny McCormick and various other characters in the Japanese dub of South Park, and has taken on the role of Scrooge McDuck in recent productions like DuckTales.

Among his many anime roles, some of the most notable include Atsushi Yadomi in anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day, Dr. Nakabachi in Steins;Gate, and Steve Mason in Death Note. In the 2021 CGI anime series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, he voiced the character Ryan. He has also taken on roles in franchise titles such as Fairy Tail, including Abe no Mimuraji, Gulliver, and a Big Cannibalist. His filmography also includes Chief Amano in Miami Guns, Akio Manjoume in Sweet Blue Flowers, Soutaifu in The Story of Saiunkoku, and Doctor Weissen in Lost Song.

In addition to his voice work, Ogata is involved in theatre. In 2011, he co-founded a theatre company called Shinjuku 625 with fellow voice actors to explore different facets of performance. His career demonstrates a consistent presence in the Japanese voice acting industry for over three decades, marked by a wide range of character interpretations in anime, video games, and foreign language dubbing.
