Description
Scuba serves as a Maximal under Lio Convoy's command during the conflict on Gaia, transforming into a squid for specialized underwater operations. A solitary and quiet individual, he prefers solitude and frequently separates from fellow Maximals to work alone during missions, yet remains dedicated to their cause. His disciplined pursuits include martial arts, military history study, and poetry composition. He becomes uncomfortable when others disrupt his concentration, particularly avoiding interactions with the talkative Tasmania Kid. His reserved demeanor unintentionally draws romantic attention: the Seacon pirate Scylla actively pursues him while the android Artemis admires him from afar. Scuba shows no interest and seeks only solitude. His primary meaningful bond is with his cousin Ikard, who shares his interests and provides the amphibious assault vehicle Tako Tank—resembling an octopus—which Scuba pilots effectively in combat and rescue operations.

Throughout the war against Galvatron's Predacons, Scuba demonstrates strategic competence by detecting subterranean Angolmois Energy flows. He creates geysers by drilling through rock to extinguish forest fires and destabilize adversaries like Galvatron during volcanic battles. He conducts reconnaissance alone, scouting territories like the Insectrons' domain or investigating underwater energy signals. Despite his solo preference, he intervenes decisively for allies: freeing Tasmania Kid from Predacon captivity, disrupting Autoroller plans to weaponize Angolmois Energy against the Insectrons, and severing BB's net mid-air to save Motorarm of the Jointrons. During the final battle aboard the Nemesis, Scuba uses the Tako Tank to disable the warship before being trapped in a wormhole following its destruction. He is freed after Unicron's defeat and returns to Cybertron.

In comic adaptations, Bighorn requests Scuba's help writing a love letter to Scylla. Scuba composes and delivers it when Bighorn hesitates, leading Scylla to mistakenly believe Scuba reciprocates her feelings and prompting her persistent pursuit. In other media, Scuba appears in a video game scenario where obtaining an Energon Quartz allows him to repair environmental damage on Gaia.
