He becomes uncomfortable when others disrupt his concentration, particularly avoiding interactions with the talkative Tasmania Kid. His reserved demeanor unintentionally draws romantic attention: the Seacon pirate Scylla actively pursues him while the android Artemis admires him from afar. Scuba shows no interest and seeks only solitude. His primary meaningful bond is with his cousin Ikard, who shares his interests and provides the amphibious assault vehicle Tako Tank—resembling an octopus—which Scuba pilots effectively in combat and rescue operations.

Throughout the war against Galvatron's Predacons, Scuba demonstrates strategic competence by detecting subterranean Angolmois Energy flows. In comic adaptations, Bighorn requests Scuba's help writing a love letter to Scylla.
