Description
Lio Convoy commands the Maximals as Supreme Commander, defined by his honesty, selfless dedication, and leadership by example. His military background fosters a gruff exterior, yet subordinates recognize a gentle core and hidden compassion beneath his sternness. Though he yearns for universal peace, he fights with precision and strength when necessary, believing combat reveals an opponent's true character, forging both bitter rivalries and enduring friendships.

Originally named Convoy during Space Patrol training, he demonstrated integrity by defying orders to abandon fallen comrade Apache, sharing his energy to ensure mutual survival. This act forged lifelong loyalty. Later, as commander, he investigated a distress signal within an asteroid field, falling into a trap set by Predacon emperor Galvatron. The ensuing explosion hurled him onto Gaia, where the hazardous atmosphere corroded his body. A white lion rescued him, carrying him to a cave saturated with Angolmois Energy that revitalized him. To survive, he scanned the lion, adopting its form as his beast mode and renaming himself Lio Convoy.

Stranded on Gaia with his crew aboard the wrecked *Yukikaze*, Lio Convoy dedicated his forces to thwarting Galvatron's schemes to exploit Angolmois Energy. His leadership emphasized unity and strategic restraint, cautioning allies like Bighorn against reckless solo engagements. He advocated diplomacy with potential allies like the Insectrons, believing their combat style indicated non-malicious intent, a stance validated when they allied against Galvatron. His compassion extended to adversaries, exemplified when he saved the falling Mantis despite prior conflict, insisting they were not enemies.

His relationship with Lio Junior, a Maximal created when Gaia's spirit copied his Leadership Matrix, was initially strained. Lio Convoy struggled with paternal expectations, often expressing disapproval of Junior's impulsiveness. When Galvatron manipulated Junior by falsely claiming a crashed teleport gate device would destroy Gaia, Junior was captured. Lio Convoy led a rescue despite friction, later apologizing for his harshness and acknowledging Junior's bravery after Magnaboss (Junior, Santon, and Skywarp combined) sacrificed vital energy to summon Optimus Primal for aid, marking a turning point in their bond.

In the battle against colossal Decepticon Majin Zarak, summoned by Galvatron via the teleport gate, Lio Convoy and Optimus Primal combined their Energon Matrices. This fusion upgraded Lio Convoy into Flash Lio Convoy, granting super speed. Their united "Double Matrix Blast" destroyed Zarak, who revealed autonomous sentience mid-battle. Post-conflict, Optimus returned to his timeline, commending Lio Convoy's leadership before the gate was destroyed.

Later, during the conflict with Unicron in *Beast Wars Neo*, Lio Convoy resurfaced after being presumed dead, explaining Angolmois Energy's link to Unicron's lifeforce. He aided Big Convoy's Maximals, using his power to free them from a wormhole while remaining trapped. He eventually escaped, participating in the final battle where Unicron was defeated, then joining Maximals and Predacons in restoring Cybertron and reuniting with his original crew.

In IDW comics, Lio Convoy served on the Bi-Partate Committee for State Affairs while covertly operating in "The Pack," a black-ops unit. He authorized Razorbeast's infiltration of Magmatron's Predacons, warning of disavowal if compromised. When Razorbeast sent a distress signal corrupted by Angolmois Energy, Lio Convoy mobilized the Pack for rescue, confronting Predacons directly and later coordinating efforts to counter Shokaract and Unicron's heralds.

In lion mode, he achieves high speeds and stealth, wielding spring-loaded "Lio Missile" launchers concealed in his mane and flip-out forearm blades called "Lion Claws." His signature "Lio Typhoon" attack generates devastating wind bursts from his shoulder-mounted lion head. As Flash Lio Convoy, his speed amplifies exponentially. He wields an Energon Matrix and a subspace saber. His tech specifications rank him among Cybertron's most powerful warriors, with near-maximum scores in strength, intelligence, speed, endurance, rank, courage, and skill, though firepower is slightly lower.

A vulnerability stems from his self-sacrificing nature; he prioritizes protecting others, especially his troops, a trait Predacons frequently exploit, creating strategic liabilities despite its compassionate strength.
