Description
Riki Kazama pilots the flying car Machine Hiryu, recruited by the Misaki Conglomerate to challenge rival racer Okkanabichi, backed by the Gapporin Conglomerate. Starting as an inexperienced racer, he grows into a pivotal role within a team comprising Chairman Misaki, his niece Nana, mechanic Chuta, and chimpanzee Hideki. Their genuine camaraderie, contrasting with their rivals’ profit-driven agendas, anchors Riki in a familial support network.
Early episodes follow his progression through standard races until a ninth-episode pivot introduces an ancient conspiracy. This shifts the narrative from episodic competitions to serialized conflicts, such as thwarting the volcanic destruction of the mythical Mu continent, testing Riki’s adaptability in high-stakes scenarios.
His character blends lighthearted humor with competitive resolve, often flirting with women outside the Gapporin faction. Each episode introduces inventive vehicles themed after animals or myths, overcome through strategic teamwork.
Later arcs expand his challenges beyond racing, blending absurdist adventure with historical elements—navigating a Mu-based racecourse, recovering a stolen dinosaur egg in China—while maintaining episodic humor. Though post-episode nine occasionally spotlights teammates, Riki remains central.
No expanded media beyond the 21-episode series details his pre-Misaki history. His development hinges on evolving bonds with allies and adversaries, alongside responses to escalating fantastical threats.
