Mindwipe began as a Cybertronian who left Cybertron eons ago with Fortress's group, seeking refuge from war. Their ship crashed on the harsh planet Master, where survival required innovation. To endure, they created large robotic Transtectors, becoming the first Headmasters. Mindwipe initially joined this peaceful effort but later rebelled against Fortress, siding with traitor Scorponok, marking his shift to the Decepticon cause.
Exiled from Master, Mindwipe and the traitorous Headmasters pledged loyalty to Decepticon leader Galvatron. In 2011, they joined Galvatron's massive assault on Cybertron, aiming to seize Vector Sigma and establish Decepticon dominance. Mindwipe operated alongside Weirdwolf and Skullcruncher under Galvatron. He frequently used his signature hypnotic power, calling it his "magic spell," in battle. He tried this power against the Autobot Dinobots, though it failed. Once, he accidentally hypnotized comrade Skullcruncher, putting him to sleep at a critical moment.
Mindwipe fought in pivotal battles orchestrated by Decepticon leadership. He was involved in Scorponok's scheme to harness the alloy Cybertonuron, a plan that ended with Cybertron's deliberate destruction to keep it from Autobots or Galvatron. Believing Galvatron killed in the cataclysm, Scorponok took full command. Mindwipe continued serving under Scorponok during the subsequent plasma energy campaign, which included Mars' destruction. He was present in Alaska when Autobot Headmasters trapped the returned Galvatron under a glacier.
When Decepticons led by Scorponok retreated to Master, refugees fled to Earth. A plasma energy accident there fused some refugees with Transformers, creating Targetmasters. Mindwipe followed Scorponok back to Master, where Scorponok built the Zarak Shield to counter Fortress Maximus's Master Sword. Mindwipe fought in battles on Master and later on Earth, where Scorponok aimed to destroy the planet for its plasma energy. He was part of the Decepticon forces during the final South Pole confrontation. There, Fortress Maximus, empowered by the Autobot army's combined energy, defeated Scorponok. After this defeat, Mindwipe and the surviving Decepticon Headmasters fled Earth.
