Scorponok, designated Mega Zarak in his Transtector form, began as a small Cybertronian refugee who escaped his war-torn homeworld during the Great War, relocating to the hostile planet Master. There, he and fellow survivors developed lifeless Transtector bodies, merging with them as Headmasters to enhance their strength and durability. Chafing under Fortress Maximus’s rule, Scorponok ignited a rebellion that culminated in his defeat and banishment from Master.
Forging an alliance with Galvatron’s Decepticons, he joined their assault on Cybertron but operated covertly, valuing strategic deception over open warfare. Skeptical of Galvatron’s aspirations, he covertly sabotaged attempts to secure a potent alloy forged by Vector Sigma. Scorponok then engineered Cybertron’s annihilation by rigging Vector Sigma’s chamber with explosives, aiming to obliterate the alloy’s potential. The detonation ostensibly killed Galvatron, enabling Scorponok to usurp Decepticon leadership by falsely asserting Galvatron’s continued clandestine command.
To counter Fortress Maximus’s combined might, he enslaved Beastformers to assemble a gargantuan Transtector on the planet Zarak, concealed within a dark nebula. Dubbed Mega Zarak, this 3000-meter scorpion-form Titan wielded crushing claws, artillery-laden shoulders, and a tail cannon that liquefied metal while scattering radioactive fallout. He unveiled this form during a Mars conflict, cementing his supremacy.
Galvatron’s unforeseen return destabilized Scorponok’s authority, forcing him into subordinate roles. Undeterred, he later abandoned Galvatron during a critical North Pole engagement, stranding his rival beneath glacial ice—a calculated betrayal highlighting his ruthless pragmatism.
Under the alias Black Zarak, he brandished a crimson trident, masking his link to Mega Zarak until this guise’s destruction. Reemerging as Scorponok, he rallied fresh Decepticon legions for an Earth invasion thwarted by external forces.
A tactician who balanced manipulation with raw power, Scorponok often pulled strings from the shadows. While alternate continuities merged his identity with Nebulan Lord Zarak, the Japanese narrative framed Mega Zarak strictly as his Transtector, retaining Scorponok as the dominant mind.
