Description
Shuntarou Shinoda is the homeroom teacher for Hinobori Academy's Class 5-3, designated the Earth Defense Class. He passionately dedicates himself to his students with a straightforward and approachable personality, actively supporting and encouraging them. He intervenes directly to assist or protect them during crises, even using his car to confront threats. His role extends beyond academics to guiding the class's defense operations against external threats. Shinoda demonstrates patience and fairness as a reasonable authority figure, though he can become impatient when addressing student negligence or irresponsibility. His concern for their well-being and development leads him to impart life lessons during challenging situations.
A significant event occurs when Shinoda's frustration with the class's carefree attitude and lack of discipline generates negative emotions, attracting an Akudama entity that spawns an Evil Beast clone of him. This clone initially mirrors Shinoda's physical appearance—a 25-year-old man with dark green hair, typically dressed in an aqua blue shirt and navy pants—but distinguishes itself through red eyes and dark circles. Unlike Shinoda, the clone exhibits primitive and destructive behavior: consuming non-edible substances like gasoline, violently hurling objects or living beings, and indiscriminately stamping the word "failed." It communicates solely by shouting "Shut up," echoing Shinoda's outburst during the cloning incident. The clone does not obey Jaaku Empire commanders and escalates its rampage upon growing to giant size, demolishing buildings indiscriminately.
During this incident, the real Shinoda is forced into hiding after being mistaken for the clone. He later emerges to confront his doppelgänger, ramming it with his car. This attack triggers the clone's transformation into its true monstrous form: a giant blackboard-like structure with chalk arms and a book-shaped shell. Following this event, Shinoda resumes his duties, maintaining his supportive and vigilant role over the Earth Defense Class.
Additionally, Shinoda harbors a romantic interest in Ruruko Himeki, the school's public health doctor, though this remains secondary to his responsibilities as an educator.
