Description
Marron Glace is one of the main characters in Sorcerer Hunters. He is the younger brother of Carrot Glace, though his tall stature, composed demeanor, and mature bearing often make him appear older. In stark contrast to his brother’s impulsive and lecherous nature, Marron is a gentleman: polite, intelligent, formal, and level-headed. He has very long black hair and yellow eyes, a delicate beauty that often leads others to mistake him for a woman, a misconception he has occasionally used to gather information or bypass guards. This striking appearance also attracts the persistent but mostly ignored romantic interest of his teammate Gateau Mocha.

Marron’s background is rooted in a childhood of hardship. He was bullied relentlessly by other children because of his feminine looks, and his older brother Carrot saved him. This event shaped his core motivation: Marron dedicates himself entirely to protecting Carrot and ensuring his happiness, often setting aside his own pleasures and desires. He was raised alongside Carrot and the Misu sisters, Tira and Chocola, on St. Hordic mountain, the haven of the Sorcerer Hunters. Like his brother, Marron is also the reincarnation of Yaksha, the god of the east.

Within the group, Marron serves as the team’s magic user and strategist. He is an expert practitioner of Eastern style magic, a form that does not require being born a sorcerer. His abilities are primarily defensive and warding in nature, often employing scraps of paper reminiscent of Shinto talismans. He can also conjure the Four Symbols, powerful spiritual guardians. Despite being a skilled swordsman, he rarely relies on a sword in combat. He is the only member of the Sorcerer Hunters who wields magic, and his knowledge and foresight make him a dependable source of solutions. Marron is quiet and speaks only when he has something profound to say, but he can be counted on to have the right answer.

His personality is defined by selflessness and a calm, protective nature. He is overly protective of Carrot, and the only time his composure cracks is when his brother’s life is in danger. In those moments, a vicious and formidable side emerges. However, he does not intervene when Tira and Chocola discipline Carrot for his womanizing, seeming to accept it as deserved. He is often embarrassed by Carrot’s antics but cares for him deeply. Over the course of the story, Marron’s development revolves around his unwavering dedication to his brother and his growing effectiveness as a mage and protector. One notable weakness is his total lack of tolerance for alcohol, which is more pronounced in the manga. Overall, Marron is a reliable, gentle, and powerful figure whose loyalty and magical expertise are vital to the Sorcerer Hunters’ mission.
