Bambietta Basterbine is a Quincy and member of the Wandenreich's Sternritter, bearing the designation "E" for "The Explode". She possesses a slender frame, long dark brown hair, and a distinctive modified Sternritter uniform. This attire includes a white hooded cloak, a thigh-length trench coat, a miniskirt, black stockings, knee-high boots with red trim, a cap featuring the Wandenreich insignia, and a prominent red heart-shaped belt buckle.
Her personality exhibits pronounced sadism; she savors combat and explicitly enjoys killing opponents. Bambietta vents frustration by luring male subordinates to her quarters under the guise of "special relief" only to kill them, showing no remorse. She maintains a strong self-preservation instinct, openly criticizing opponents who sacrifice their lives for victory as illogical, insisting the core purpose of fighting is to avoid death. This instinct surfaces as visible panic when facing defeat. She identifies as the leader of the female Sternritter subgroup and reacts with explosive anger if abandoned or embarrassed by peers.
Her Schrift, "The Explode", allows her to infuse objects or the environment with reishi, transforming them into bombs that detonate on contact or at her command, impossible to block conventionally. Her Quincy: Vollständig, Zofiel, significantly enhances this power: it generates red reishi wings for flight and enables the creation of larger, more potent explosive orbs without needing physical mediums. She also wields a short, forked broadsword formed from reishi.
During the initial Wandenreich invasion of Soul Society, Bambietta engaged in mass slaughter of Shinigami before confronting Captain Sajin Komamura. After stealing his Bankai with a Quincy medallion, she later witnessed Yhwach designate Uryū Ishida as his successor. In the second invasion, discovering her stolen Bankai had returned to Komamura and enraged by the perceived abandonment of her fellow female Sternritter, she unleashed widespread destruction. She battled Komamura—who had used the Humanization Technique to gain immortality at the cost of his heart—and Captain Shinji Hirako. Despite activating Zofiel and exploiting her explosives to counter Shinji's sense-reversing Zanpakutō, she was overwhelmed by Komamura's enhanced Bankai, Kokujō Tengen Myō'ō: Dangai Jōe. The attack detonated her explosives internally, leaving her severely injured.
Defeated and incapacitated, she was discovered by fellow Sternritter, including Giselle Gewelle. Expressing terror and begging Giselle to stop, Bambietta was killed by her shortly after. Giselle then reanimated her as a zombie using Quincy blood manipulation. In this undead state, her personality shifted significantly: she became subservient, followed Giselle’s orders without question, and exhibited childlike mannerisms, referring to herself as "Bambi" and seeking approval as a "good girl". However, she retained her self-preservation instinct, attempting to prevent Giselle from overconsuming her blood during healing. Her explosive abilities remained accessible but were notably weakened. She was deployed as a tactical weapon under Giselle’s control in later conflicts, including confrontations with Captain Mayuri Kurotsuchi.
