Description
Yoni serves as a shrine maiden and guardian within the Temple of Leda in the fantastical realm of Ashanti. She belongs to an ancient order dedicated to preserving the legacy of the legendary warrior Leda and protecting the dimensional boundary separating Ashanti from Earth, referred to as Noa. Following the decline of her order, she becomes one of the last guardians awaiting the prophesied arrival of Leda's successor.
Her appearance manifests in two distinct forms across official media. She appears either as a young girl in humanoid form, or as a small, winged creature resembling a green rabbit with soft fur and red pupils, identified within the narrative as a "baku"—a mythical dream-eating entity from Japanese folklore. This dual nature reflects her mystical role.
Yoni actively guides the protagonist, Yoko Asagiri, upon her arrival in Ashanti. She provides crucial exposition regarding the threat posed by the antagonist Zell, who rules the floating fortress Garuba and seeks to invade Earth using Yoko's music. Yoni leads Yoko to the Armor of Leda, a dormant giant robot hidden within the temple that transforms into the spacecraft Wings of Leda, revealing its activation mechanism requires the presence of Leda's warrior.
