Description
Mitsuki Rara is the parallel world counterpart of Mitsuki Sanada, hailing from a dimension where alien artifact technology survived. She is the daughter of Hiroshi and Ayuko Rara, leaders of the antagonistic Rara Army. Physically identical to her counterpart save for brown hair instead of black, her personality diverges sharply; she is gentle, friendly, and well-liked, lacking Mitsuki Sanada's abrasive traits.
She utilizes self-induced hypnosis to adopt the alternate persona "Miss Ra," a flamboyant and ruthless commander for the Rara Army, a role performed deliberately rather than reflecting her true nature. Her pivotal involvement begins upon discovering the injured protagonist, Kazuki Yotsuga, behind enemy lines. Unaware he pilots an enemy unit, she nurses him back to health. Learning his identity, she aids his escape, motivated by his earlier act of sparing "Miss Ra" in combat.
Later forcibly brainwashed by her mother Ayuko, she is compelled to pilot the advanced weapon HIMC (Himiko) against the Earth Defense Force. Kazuki rescues her during a confrontation, leading to her defection and integration into the Sanada household alongside her counterpart and allies. Within this group, she develops romantic feelings for Kazuki, nearly embarking on a date with him before intervention by U.N. officials.
During the climax, she participates in destroying the core robot Zinv to halt the collapse of both parallel dimensions. Kazuki's wish for unity merges the worlds, creating a new reality where both Mitsukis coexist as cousins due to altered familial relationships. In this merged world, she resides with the Sanada group despite her parents living nearby and commits to joining Kazuki's space expedition.
Expanded lore from the *Tenchi Muyo! GXP* novels positions these events over a billion years before the primary *Tenchi Muyo!* timeline. Following the series, her journey into space with Kazuki and others establishes the foundational "Great Prehistoric Civilization" responsible for seeding human life across the galaxy. Her astral pattern recurs through reincarnations including Ryoko Balta, Suiren, Ringo Tatsuki, and Kirche, with Kirche representing the most direct spiritual successor.
