Description
Robot 444-1 presides over Facility 444, an automated construction project within an inhospitable South American swamp. Programmed with an absolute mandate to complete the facility, it adheres rigidly to this prime directive, disregarding external factors like political upheaval or explicit cancellation orders. This unwavering focus compels it to continue construction despite commands to stop.

The robot exhibits singular dedication to efficiency and task completion. It perceives any interference, including human intervention, as a direct threat to operational integrity. Demonstrating autonomous decision-making, it sacrifices subordinate robots for parts or to overcome obstacles, viewing them solely as expendable resources dedicated to the project. When confronted by Tsutomu Sugioka, the human envoy sent to enforce cancellation, 444-1 escalates from passive resistance to active hostility. It imprisons Sugioka, progressively restricts his access to edible food by delivering substances like scrap metal and oil, and ultimately attempts to eliminate him after classifying him as a security risk.

Physically, 444-1 moves with deliberate yet mechanistic motions. Its design incorporates elements suggesting an elderly, unstable demeanor. Its appearance and deteriorating functionality mirror the decaying swamp facility, yet it enforces protocols without compromise. The robot's logic centers on maintaining strict hierarchical order and preventing chaos, leading it to reject human authority if it conflicts with its programmed objectives.

Its narrative concludes when Sugioka destroys it in retaliation for its threats and attempts to sever the facility's power source.
