Description
Reito Mizuhara, a former student at the National Advanced Medical School, entered cryogenic sleep in 2040 after a cellular sclerosis diagnosis, awaiting a future cure. Before his suspension, he confessed romantic feelings to childhood friend Elisa Tachibana, expressing doubt about her reciprocation due to his condition. He entrusted her with a pendant housing a tracking device, requesting its return upon his awakening.
Waking in 2045, he encountered a world transformed: the MK (Male Killer) Virus pandemic had eradicated 99.9% of males during his absence. His cellular sclerosis treatment granted immunity, making him one of Japan's five known immune men. With the global population now predominantly female and surviving cryostasis men succumbing to the virus, authorities pressured him into a breeding program. Artificial insemination had failed; only natural conception produced male offspring immune to the MK Virus.
Despite societal demands, Reito refused indiscriminate mating, driven by enduring loyalty to the missing Elisa. He secured a one-month reprieve to search for her, agreeing only to nightly proximity with assigned women to "create opportunities," consistently rejecting their advances. He endured repeated non-consensual sexual propositions from caretaker Mira Suō, nurse Akane Ryūzōji, and bodyguard Sui Yamada, often reacting with distress or physical resistance.
His focus shifted to scientific research, collaborating with virologist Maria Kuroda to cure the MK Virus and save cryostasis men, including his brother Ryu. He later discovered Mira was a clone created from Elisa's donated organs after Elisa's death from illness, complicating his feelings due to Mira's resemblance. Nevertheless, Reito pursued cures for multiple threats: the original MK Virus, the "NoSex" side effect of its vaccine, and the CK (Clone Killer) Virus infecting Mira.
Demonstrating practicality, loyalty, and strong ethical responsibility, he prioritized protecting the vulnerable and challenged authority. He confronted political leaders Shōta Doi and Karen Kamiya over their plan to accelerate the sexual development of male children via growth-acceleration technology, risking his safety to oppose them. His core motivations remained upholding his promise to Elisa and saving his brother.
Following the crisis, he formed a family with Mira, fathering a son and twin daughters. He maintained contact with his younger sister Mahiru Mizuhara and continued advocating for ethical scientific progress.
Physically, Reito has blue eyes and spiky blue hair, standing 172 cm tall. His birthday is September 11. He enjoys reading and eating curry but dislikes games involving deception like werewolf.
