Benkei Kuruma replaces the fallen Musashi Tomoe as the third pilot for Getter Robo G following the battle against the Dinosaur Empire. A professional baseball player, he possesses a physique honed to human limits, enabling him to operate the Getter Machines. His pilot suit integrates protective gear reminiscent of a baseball catcher's equipment. Benkei maintains a cheerful, happy-go-lucky attitude but displays intense loyalty, readily risking his life to protect endangered friends. He frequently partners with Ryoma Nagare on missions against the Hyakki Empire, including rescuing Hayato Jin and thwarting enemy plots. Captured alongside the Getter Team during the conflict with the ancient Atlantean entity Uzahra, Benkei faces the Atlanteans' plan to use their bodies as vessels. This plan fails due to Hyakki Empire intervention. Near death, the Atlanteans provide the team with a repaired Getter G and Uzahra's aid. Benkei fights to liberate the Saotome Institute and supports a human uprising against their captors. The team confronts the Hyakki Empire in space, destroying their fortress using the Shine Spark. After the Hyakki Empire's defeat, Benkei returns to the Saotome Institute. He combats assassins sent by the resurgent Dinosaur Empire using a remodeled original Getter Robo, battling foes like a revived Burai. When the Andromeda Country attacks, Benkei pilots Getter Robo G in Dragon formation deep underground. During this mission, he loses control and is consumed by overwhelming Getter Rays, resulting in his death. This profoundly impacts Ryoma Nagare, fueling his doubts about Getter Rays and Dr. Saotome's obsession. Misa Ikari later assumes Benkei's role as pilot of Getter G. Other continuities, like the *Getter Robo Armageddon* OVA, feature Benkei in distinct storylines involving mentorship and piloting Shin Getter Robo, separate from his portrayal in the *Getter Robo G* manga and television series.
