OVA
Description
Rowen Hashiba, also known as Touma Hashiba, hails from Osaka, Japan, born October 10, 1973. He is 14 during the initial television series, aging to 17 by the "Message" OVA. He possesses blue hair and blue eyes. His height increases from 165 cm (5'4.9") in the TV series to 178 cm (5'10") in "Message," with weight rising from 55 kg to 66 kg.

A descendant of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, his Hashiba clan was wiped out during the Tokugawa era. His parents divorced when he was 12. His father, Genichirou Hashiba, is a university physics and astronomy professor working in a Kyoto laboratory. His somewhat absentminded mother is an international journalist; she maintains a friendly relationship with Rowen and his father despite the divorce, retaining a spare key to their high-rise apartment. Rowen lives with his father, though his mother visits frequently.

Researching his family history, Rowen uncovered references linking the Strata armor (Tenku) to his paternal lineage. With his mother's help, he located the armor at a shrine owned by his paternal grandfather in Amanohashidate. There, he first met Kento Rei Faung, staying at the shrine as a foreign student.

Boasting an IQ of 250, Rowen is the most intellectually gifted Ronin Warrior, serving as the primary strategist and voice of reason, often counterbalancing impulsive teammates like Ryo and Kento. His personality remains calm under pressure, though intense emotions can provoke volatility. He enjoys reading detective stories, playing go, chess, computer games, jogging, and swimming. During the "Message" arc, he develops a passion for baseball, favoring the Hanshin team and expressing disdain for rivals like the Kyodai. Rowen has a notable sweet tooth, matches or exceeds Kento’s appetite, and struggles with early mornings due to low blood pressure and habitual late-night activities, often waking around 11 a.m.

As the bearer of the Armor of Strata (Tenku), Rowen draws power from the air, embodying the virtue of "Chi" (Wisdom or Life). His primary weapon is a golden bow, and his signature technique is the "Arrow Shockwave" ("Shinkūha" or "Vacuum Breaker"), firing concentrated energy arrows. The armor also grants him the ability to create protective barriers.

In the "Gaiden" OVA, Rowen travels to New York City with the team to investigate Sage’s disappearance. He identifies inconsistencies in the university’s story, confirming they were lured into a trap. Investigating a crime scene, he discovers a murdered photographer and retrieves a dagger from the victim’s chest, only to be witnessed by Runa, who accuses him of the murder. After evading Runa’s knife attacks, he later encounters the corrupted Halo armor. Recognizing Sage is not inside it, he and Kento engage the armor but are injured by its ultimate attack. While evading U.S. enforcement agencies, Runa aids Rowen and Ryo, leading Rowen to question her motives. She admits her earlier mistake, realizing they are allies. The team regroups and storms Shikaisen’s Los Angeles hideout. Rowen temporarily frees Sage, though all Ronin Warriors are subsequently captured. After Runa and Yuli create a distraction, the team breaks free and combines their powers to summon the Inferno armor, defeating Shikaisen.

During the "Legend of the Inferno Armor" OVA, Rowen participates in battles against Mukala alongside Ryo and Sage, though the enemy proves overwhelming without the full team. In "Message," Rowen receives a new armor set from the entity Suzunagi, along with enhanced abilities. He adopts a more active interest in baseball.

Rowen’s character development emphasizes his evolution from a detached intellectual to a fiercely loyal teammate. His relationship with Sage deepens due to shared intellectual interests, and his commitment to protecting his friends—his first true companions—remains a consistent motivator. Physical changes like increased height and weight parallel his maturation, while expanded hobbies like baseball demonstrate a broader engagement with the world beyond academia.
