Description
Originally named Kaos in Japanese media, the Ancient One is an approximately 1,150-year-old powerful monk from a mystical clan with origins near the Kanto region. He serves as the creator of the nine mystical armors, forged from the remains of the demon emperor Talpa's armor after their initial battle a millennium ago. Recognizing Talpa's lingering threat, he split the armor into nine separate suits, each imbued with distinct Confucian or Bushido virtues to neutralize their inherent evil, and sealed them away until needed.

His appearance features white hair, traditional monk robes, and a straw hat obscuring his face, always accompanied by a mystical staff; during his ancient battle against Talpa, he wore green and blue-gray samurai armor. Characterized by intense seriousness and dedication to protecting the Mortal Realm from the Dynasty's evil, this commitment extends to self-sacrifice, culminating in giving his life to enable the Ronin Warriors to breach Talpa's castle. Despite his stern demeanor, he demonstrates compassion toward those corrupted by Talpa, notably reaching out to Anubis during the warlord's crisis of loyalty and sensing a troubled soul within Suzanagi, though he could not aid her.

Beyond his clan affiliation and pivotal confrontation with Talpa, his early history remains largely undefined. Approximately one year before Talpa's resurgence in the modern era, he personally bestows the armors upon the five Ronin Warriors. After his death, he continues to mentor and guide them, including lending his staff to their allies Mia and Yuli for additional support. His relationship with the Ronin Warriors is one of paternal care mixed with guilt for involving them in the conflict, while his dynamic with Talpa defines them as eternal rivals.

Across all official media, including the OVAs, his role remains consistent as a posthumous mentor. His actions and legacy directly influence the broader narrative, particularly in the *Legend of the Inferno Armor* OVA where the armors' corruption becomes a central plot point tied to his original creation.
