OVA
Description
Touma Hashiba, known alternatively as Rowen Hashiba, possesses an IQ of 250, establishing him as the most intellectually gifted among his peers. His lineage traces back to the feudal warlord Toyotomi Hideyoshi, renowned for strategic brilliance and political influence. His parents divorced when he was twelve. His father, Genichirou Hashiba, is a university physics and astronomy professor, frequently described as a "mad scientist" type and often absent due to work commitments. His mother, an international journalist, traveled extensively and maintained a casual, friend-like relationship with him post-divorce. Touma resided with his father in a modern high-rise apartment but experienced significant solitude during his upbringing, fostering early social isolation and a tendency toward intellectual rather than emotional engagement.

Through self-directed research into family history, Touma discovered the existence of his ancestral armor, the Armor of Strata (Tenku). With his mother's help, he located it at his paternal grandfather's shrine in Amanohashidate during spring vacation. There, he met Kento Rei Fuan, staying at the shrine as a foreign student, marking the start of their friendship. The armor harnesses power from air, embodying the virtue of Chi (Wisdom) or Inochi (Life) depending on the adaptation. Its primary weapon is the Shoya Kyu, a collapsible bow manipulating atmospheric energy. His signature attack, the Vacuum Wave (Shin Ku Ha), concentrates air-derived energy into an arrow capable of explosive impacts. The armor also grants limited flight capabilities and defensive barriers.

In the Gaiden OVA, Touma traveled to New York City with the group following reports implicating Sage's Halo armor in violent crimes. Investigating a photographer who captured images of the armor, Touma discovered the man murdered in his apartment. As he extracted the dagger from the victim's chest, Runa witnessed him and accused him of the killing. He attempted to explain but failed to apprehend her. Later, he deduced Sage's invitation to the U.S. was a ruse orchestrated by Shikaisen. Touma and Kento confronted the Halo armor, recognizing Sage was not its wearer. They were injured by its attack and subsequently pursued by authorities. Runa later aided Touma and Ryo, admitting her initial mistake about his involvement. The group tracked Shikaisen to Los Angeles, where Touma briefly freed Sage before all five warriors were captured. They eventually defeated Shikaisen by combining their powers into Ryo's Inferno Armor.

During the initial conflict with the Evil Dynasty (Talpa/Arago), Touma demonstrated strategic acumen, often advising caution against impulsive actions. After rescuing Ryo from a Dynasty soldier, he advocated a direct assault on the Dynasty but was overruled. When Talpa scattered the warriors, Touma materialized in outer space, requiring Ryo's intervention to return. During a battle with Anubis, he used his Vacuum Wave, inadvertently revealing Anubis's human identity. He and Cye were the first absorbed by Talpa during the final confrontation, later freed by Ryo's Inferno Armor. In a subsequent skirmish with Saranbo, he sustained a knee injury.

Touma's character evolved significantly across official media. Initially socially detached and reliant on logic, he gradually integrated emotional depth through loyalty to his comrades. His desperation to rescue captured allies during the Nether Realm incursion revealed a fervent commitment beneath his analytical exterior. By the Legend of the Inferno Armor OVA, he actively balanced intellect and emotion, collaborating with allies like Nasutei to investigate armor-related threats across Africa. His deductive skills proved crucial in identifying the armors' corrupting influence. In the Message OVA, this synthesis culminated in his refusal to engage in combat without comprehensive understanding, reflecting a hard-earned awareness that knowledge must serve emotional preservation as much as tactical victory.

Outside battle, Touma enjoyed strategy games like Go and Shogi, computer simulations, archery (Kyudo), and baseball, specifically supporting the Hanshin Tigers while opposing the Yomiuri Giants. He possessed a substantial appetite, often rivaling Kento's food intake, attributed to high metabolic demands from intellectual exertion. He struggled with mornings due to low blood pressure and late-night activities.
