His fleet falls victim to the Noo, driven mad with fear during their campaign. After this defeat, space trucker Tomiko and her son Ichiro rescue Irita. This encounter sparks a pivotal realization of the existential threat posed by the Noo, prompting a shift in his priorities.

Motivated by this understanding, Irita launches a courageous but ultimately futile assault on the Noo-controlled vessel Fata Morgana. Before this attack, he exchanges conciliatory words with Harlock, signaling a belated recognition of the greater danger.

Irita's background reveals he was born on Pluto, where his father served as chief of the observatory and was renowned as a pioneer of space. This connection to Pluto carries profound personal weight. During Irita's pre-emptive strike against the Fata Morgana, both the Plutonian observatory and his father's grave are destroyed.

The attack on the Fata Morgana concludes with Irita's fate unresolved following the failure of his assault.
