Description
Hayato Shindo is a Japanese middle school student of conflicting age, described as either 11 (elementary) or 14 (middle school). He possesses a slim build, black hair, and black eyes, typically seen in a blue soccer shirt, bandana, trousers, sneakers, and often a headband and arm bands. Impulsive and optimistic, he acts first and thinks later, habitually dismissing concerns with the phrase "It's fine."
A dedicated soccer enthusiast, he creatively applies his athletic skills in crises, frequently kicking soccer balls to resolve dangers. He also demonstrates aptitude with machinery, regularly operating a scooter transported from his time. His life changes during a visit to Dr. Leonard's lab, where he and classmate Yumi accidentally activate Tondekeman, a sentient kettle-shaped time machine, transporting them to ancient Baghdad and separating them from the device.
Stranded in the past, Hayato adapts to historical settings, forming alliances with figures like Aladdin, Prince Dandarn, and Princess Shalala. Residing in Shalala's palace, he repeatedly confronts the sorcerer Abdullah, who kidnaps the princess and escapes through time via dimensional holes created by Tondekeman. Hayato pursues Abdullah across various eras, encountering historical and literary figures during these chases.
Throughout his journey, he relies on practical problem-solving, leveraging soccer techniques and machinery knowledge. His relationship with Yumi remains constant as they collaborate to retrieve Tondekeman from Abdullah. The resolution involves returning to their original time after ensuring Princess Shalala's safety and foiling Abdullah's schemes.
