TV-Series
Description
Vanessa Hayamizu, originally named Persia Hayami, spent her childhood raised feral among wildlife on Africa's Serengeti plains, wearing minimal clothing and forming deep animal bonds. This shaped her into an energetic, carefree individual with unconventional behaviors and limited understanding of human societal norms. Her life shifted when the Muroi twins, Riki and Gaku, and their grandfather, Gōken Muroi, brought her to Minato-machi, Japan. Adopted by grocery store owners, she began adjusting to Japanese culture.
During the flight, an incident transported her to the "Lovely Dream," a realm of frozen dreams. The Fairy Queen, appearing as a butterfly, tasked her with saving this realm by collecting love energy. Vanessa received a magical golden headband with a star that reacts to "Papurikko," summoning a baton bridging the human world and Lovely Dream. Using "Perukko Raburin Kurukuru Rinkuru," she transforms into a physically older, mature version of herself with magical abilities, straighter pink hair, and altered appearance.
She returned accompanied by three kappa assistants: excitable Gera Gera in an orange shirt, timid Meso Meso with a red bow tie, and stern female Puri Puri carrying a pink purse. They guide and occasionally reprimand her. Using magic, she transported her lion companion Simba from Africa, transforming him into a talking cat for life in Japan.
Her personality radiates boundless energy, loyalty, and directness, often clashing with Japanese cultural expectations. She initially developed romantic feelings for both Muroi twins but later focused on Gaku, leading to a mutual relationship. This created tension with classmate Yoyoko Manabe, who viewed Vanessa as a rival due to Yoyoko's affection for Gaku and resentment over Vanessa's athletic superiority. Her bond with Sayo Mitomo, Riki's girlfriend, evolved into a sisterly friendship, contrasting Sayo's reserved nature with her spiritedness.
In spin-offs and OVAs, she collaborates with other magical girls. In "Adesugata Mahou no Sannin Musume," she joins Creamy Mami and Magical Emi for a hot-spring excursion. In "Majokko Club Yoningumi: A Kuukan kara no Alien X," she teams with Creamy Mami, Magical Emi, and Pastel Yumi against an extraterrestrial threat. The OVA "Kaiten Mokuba" revisits key mission events through a recap with supplemental footage.
