TV-Series
Description
Alexis Thi Dang is a human of Asian descent and the daughter of Vietnamese boat people, featured primarily in the Unicron Trilogy. At eleven years old, she is headstrong, opinionated, and intellectually gifted, earning excellent grades and demonstrating proficiency with computers.
Her initial ambition is to become President of the United States, believing it would be simpler than managing her friends, Rad and Carlos. She cites ending the misuse of public property, saving the environment, and ending world hunger as key goals. Her involvement in the Transformers conflict begins when she investigates tremors from a crashed Mini-Con ship discovered by her friends. She arrives in time to witness Megatron and Optimus Prime's arrival on Earth and bonds with the Mini-Con Sureshock.
She becomes a steadfast Autobot ally, regularly assisting in missions to protect Mini-Cons from the Decepticons. She acts as a voice of reason compared to her impulsive friends, demonstrating a strong moral compass by prioritizing environmental protection and the safety of civilians and animals during battles.
She forms a significant relationship with the Decepticon turncoat, Starscream. After he joins the Autobots, he initially dismisses the children but later brings them a souvenir green rock from Mars. Alexis fashions this rock into a necklace. She and the others create a "Chamois of Friendship" for him, which briefly touches him before his betrayal and return to the Decepticons. The necklace becomes tied to his spark and cracks when he is destroyed by Unicron. She is deeply affected by his death, initially expressing grief through anger but later finding solace in his noble sacrifice.
Following Unicron's defeat and the departure of most Transformers, her career aspirations shift from politics to science; she becomes a physicist, driven by knowledge gained from the Autobots to better Earth. Her experiences foster a desire to explore the universe.
A decade after the Armada conflict, she is involved in global activism, violently protesting the misuse of Earth's natural resources. During a protest in Australia, she saves a teenager named Kicker from a Terrorcon twice, using a flare gun. Captured by Scorponok, she is rescued by Rad and Carlos. She later works as a diplomat and liaison for the Earth Federation, representing Earth's interests to the Cybertronian alliance and communicating the Federation's decision to remain neutral in new conflicts, though she maintains personal trust in Optimus Prime.
By 2030, she holds a governmental position working closely with the President of the Earth Federation. She is present when Colonel Franklin is appointed Earth's ambassador to Cybertron and later bids farewell to the Autobots with Rad and Carlos.
In comic continuities, she helps Rad and Carlos with "Project Supernova" and is initially cynical about its success. After the Transformers awaken, she is angry about being pulled into an alien war but is convinced to help. She later compiles a database of Transformer information, unaware the data was planted in her mind by the Mini-Con Over-Run and contained inaccuracies. Her activist phase is also depicted, highlighting disagreements with Rad over her lifestyle and his job at Alterenergy. A moment of danger leads Rad to believe she has died, culminating in an emotional reunion.
A noted trivia point across some media is the revelation of romantic feelings for Starscream, though this aspect is not consistently maintained across all continuities.
