Kiryuu Bannanchiten is a celestial spirit embodying the Earth, summoned when Tasuke Shichiri gazes into a small Chinese fan sent by his father. Her purpose is to strengthen her master through demanding trials, using the fan to enlarge objects to immense sizes and create difficult scenarios designed for rigorous physical and mental conditioning.
At first, she believes Tasuke resents her presence due to the harshness of her methods. He surprises her, however, by willingly accepting every challenge, which results in her becoming a permanent fixture in his home. Her training approach is systematic and severe, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to his improvement.
She consistently employs the catchphrase, "It is a trial," or "It is a challenge," uttered before enacting each new test. This phrase highlights her unwavering focus on using obstacles as a means for growth. Over time, her demeanor acquires a more deadpan and sarcastic edge in response to various situations.
The character is introduced in the later sections of the original manga series. In anime adaptations, she appears only in the OVA series *Denshin Mamotte Shugogetten* and is absent from the original television anime series.
